Flat Creek, June 27-
Hot and dry. Everyone wishing for a good rain. The cotton seems
to be getting over the rust since it has been warmer weather. The
farmers will soon be feasting on blackeyed and cream peas.
Gardens will soon be gone.
A cotton meeting will be held at the school house Thursday at 1
o'clock.
Mrs. Tom Carson who has been confined to her
home because of illness is some better. Mrs. P.H. Hart,
Mrs. Bertha Faught have have also been
on the sick list. MissVelma Lawson has had a
stroke of appendicitis but is slightly better.
Billy Spurlock returned to his home in Waco last
week accompanied by his mother.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Werneking and little son, Billie
Bruce were visiting in the home of the former's parents
Sunday, Carl Werneking, Sr. and family.
Lee Roby was a visitor in the H. M. Hall
home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud Smith spent Sunday in the home
of the latter's mother, Mrs. C. T. Smith and
family of Payne Springs. Her mother accompanied them home for a
visit.
The musical at Ed Knowle's on Thursday night was
enjoyed by a nice crowd.
Miss Irene Roby spent Saturday night in the home
of Mrs. E.L. Hood.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris and Mr. and Mrs.
Green and daughters Opal and Grace of Corsicana, were
visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Carson Sunday.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. Davis Brown Saturday night
a boy.
Grady Wiley from Hill county is visiting Dee
Lawson and family.
A large crowd enjoyed a singing in the Tom Carson
home Sunday afternoon.
Miss Merle Hart was shopping in Athens Saturday.
Several enjoyed a singing in the home of Mrs. Zelma
Laymance Friday night.
Mrs. Dicie Joe Murry and children have been
staying in the home of her father-in-law, Mr. Murry
and family in Murchison.
Paul Gillert and sons, Rinehart, Henry and Bill
of Sand Springs attended the singing at Mrs. Laymance's
Friday night.
Arthur Postom of Corsicana spent the week-end in
the H. M. Hall home.
Rev. R. B. Key accompanied by Rev. Trull
and daughters, Misses Lois and Joyce of Corsicana, filled their
appointment Saturday night and Sunday. A large crowd was present
each service.
Vernon Hood of Black Jack was visiting in the
home of his grandfather, Albert Hood and family
Sunday.
Bill Faught had a horse to die last week.
Miss Alta Robertson of Athens is spending the
week in the home of her mother, Mrs. Rosia Robertson.
Mrs. Lee Hood of Red Hill, Mrs. Della
Bunn, Mrs. Mary Morton of this place
and Coy and Anna Mae Murry of Murchison were
visitors in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Davis Brown
Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Claud Williams and family of Sand
Flat, Mr. and Mrs. Joe B. Cumbie and little son
Rayford of Black Jack, Roy Nowell of Sand
Springs and Miss Lucille Murry of Murchison were
among some of those who attended church services here Sunday.
Garvin Thompson and A. C. McCool
were visiting Herman Hood Sunday.
Little Daniel Morton has been on the sick list.
Buford Parrott spent Saturday night with his
cousin Delmar Carter.
Curtis Green left for Corsicana Saturday to
visit his sister, Mrs. Arthur Poston.
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Kelly, Tom Carson,
and Mr. and Mrs. Bobbie Shelton went fishing at
Coal Kill lake Friday.
Miss Ellie D. Lawson is on the sick list.
