Our school is still progressing nicely.
Health is good.
Farmers are beginning to plow.
Messrs. Green and Blansit made a trip to Athens last week.
George Cook has paled his yard.
Will Honeycutt's baby died a few days ago.
They had preaching here last Sunday by Bro. Roberson.

(page torn) Little began planting corn today. Many others are preparing to plant.
Health of our community very good and we are all getting a little gay since the
mockingbirds have begun to sing.
Miss Emma Bagwell delightfully entertained a number of friends with music and
dancing last Friday evening in honor of her father's fifty-fourth birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Carter entertained their friends with music last Friday evening.
Maude and Lockie Miller played the guitar and mandolin, Harvey Woods and Ira
Miller the violin and Mrs. Carter the organ. The music was fine and all went
"merry as the marriage bell."
Attorney Miller of Athens was in attendance at court here last Friday.
Our local sports have been enjoying wolf hunting. The Wright boys report
twelve scalps. We hope they will continue the good work.
J. C. Wallace of Jesse, Kaufman county, was here Thursday hunting yam
potatoes, Plymouth Rock chickens and fine hogs. Yes, he got 'em, and there's
lots more over here and we would just as soon sell them to the good people of
Kaufman as our own neighbors.
Grover C. Thomas celebrated his 17th birthday Sunday. All his brothers and
sisters and their families and his cousins, Hardin LaRue, Johnnie and Cecil
Little, enjoyed his hospitality.

K. & L. of H. Luncheon
Athens Lodge No. 1612, Knights and Ladies of Honor, at their last meeting,
initiated a class of fifteen applicants, concluding it with a very fine luncheon served
by the entertainment committee. Mr. Joseph Fried, Deputy Grand
Protector reports that he has fourteen more applicants ready to ride the goat.
This order is more than 26 years old and has paid out over twenty millions of
dollars to its beneficiaries and has over $200,00,00 in the emergency fund. It
was the first order to admit ladies on the same principle and giving them the
same rights and privileges as men.

Mrs. Marie J. Cole, State Protector of Texas, Mrs. A. Fried, Past Protector of
Dallas Lodge and S. H. Ashner, Chairman of the Grand Lodge Fiance Committee
were expected guest at the last meeting but owing to a wreck on the T. & N.O.,
did not arrive till 2 o'clock next morning. Mrs. Cole promised however to be here
at the next class initiation. All members are urged to be present Thursday,
March 26 at 7:30 p.m.
