Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eads
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Eads of Velasco, Texas, formerly of Murchison,
celebrated their sixtieth wedding
anniversary on October 2, according to word received here this
week.
Mr. Eads was a merchant in Murchison for many years and
established one of the first dehydrating
plants of black-eyed peas in the county. The family lived in
Murchison from about 1898 until 1921,
when they moved to Alvin. they later moved to Velasco, where they
have lived for about 20 years.
They have many relatives and friends in Henderson county. Mr.
Eads is 84 years of age and Mrs. Eads
is 75, and both are in excellent health.
They were honored with a family party in the home of their oldest
daughter, Mrs. Bruce Patterson,
in Houston on Sunday, October 1. The entire family was preset,
with the exception of two grandsons,
David K. Eads, a chemical engineer doing research for the
government in Decatur, Illinois, and
Emory Eads, Jr., who is with the Marines somewhere in the
Southwest Pacific; also one grand-son-
in-law, Captain Virgil Ellis, in the army, and one
daughter-in-law, Mrs. Martin Eads, a nurse on duty
in Fort Worth.
Mr. and Mrs. Patterson and children welcomed the family Sunday
morning and a delightful garden
party was held in the spacious ground of their home. All of Mr.
and Mrs. Eads' immediate family
were present. They were Emory L. Eads Sr., Houston; Aubrey K.
Eads, Velasco; Clyde Eads,
Gladewater; Mrs. Pansy Patterson, Mrs. Lucille Cleveland,
Houston; Mrs. Lois Milligan, Houston;
and Martin Eads, Fort Worth.
Other members of the family attending the celebration were: Mrs.
E. L. Eads, Mr. and Mrs. Nowell
Phillips, Port Sulphur, La.; Mrs. Virgil Ellis, Houston; Dorothy
Eads, Houston; Mrs. Aubrey Eads,
Patty Eads, Blanche Ellen Eads, Jane Aubrey Eads, Velasco; Mrs.
Clyde Eads, Gladewater; Iden
Cleveland, Houston; Tommie and Jimmie Milligan and Mr. and Mrs.
Gus McMichael, Houston;
Bruce Paterson, Mary Catherine, Bruce Jr., and John Patterson.
Mr. and Mrs. Eads held open house for their friends in Velasco on
Monday, October 2, and many
friends called, bringing gifts and expressing their
congratulations.
