Athens Weekly Review

Delta
School at this place is getting along nicely. Although we have a
small school the patrons seem to understand
that prompt attendance is on of the most important factors of
successful work by the pupils.
The fact that farmers are still gathering cotton is sufficient
evidence of the production soil of this action.
We have several new comers to our community with the New Year,
viz: Messrs. Chilcolm, Davis, Lawrence and
McMorris.
We learned that Mrs. Tidford, wife of Lem Tidford
who died week before last, is improving.
Mr. Welch has purchased Jim Brewer's farm. Mr. Brewer
having bought a part of his father, Uncle Pete Brewer's
farm.
George Brewer and wife visited their daughter,
Mrs. Hargill at Brownsboro Monday night.
Br. Boyd is having some land cleared.
The writer attended church at Leagueville Sunday last and had the
pleasure of meeting many old friends. Rev.
Funderburk preached his farewell sermon.
Bro. Funderburk lost a horse while at
Leagueville and Bro. Brown expressed his
sympathy as well as his
liberality by presenting him with a mule.
Mr. Marrow and Miss Dingler
were married at Bro. Reeves Sunday evening, Bro.
Reeves officiating.
Mr. Spivey and Miss Tedford of
the Delta country were married Sunday evening.
Mr. Cotton, justice of the peace, and Rev. Hodge's
son are very low of pneumonia.
We desire to mention some thing about the elegant accommodations
at Leagueville for school. The patrons of
that school certainly deserve credit for the new schoolhouse
which they have just furnished with new desk. We
think they are being amply repaid for their trouble by Prof. Warren
who is conducting a very fine school.
Success to the REVIEW and its many readers.
E. E. Smith.
