Beck's Chapel

Health is good. Crops look very well. We have a stalk of corn with three joints. We hmade a trip to Malakoff with J. J. Willingham who did all the laughing. I have been all over Center, Wild Cat and Beck's Chapel and I find the Chapel has the best crops I saw. I have s son who lives in Montana. He says he was in Tarklo, Mo,; on the first day of May. He says there was a big snow on that day. Texas has some laws that are great frauds. The game law is another fraud. The birds do the farmers more harm than good. Two-thirds of the men who voted for the game law do not know the season of the year when the young deer are to be protected. Another big fraud is the approprirtion of $75,000 to experiment with the boil wevil. If that amount was set apart to set the net to check the boil wevil what a blessing we farmers would enjoy. WFW.

Forest Grove

Our Sunday School was short last Sunday. There was an all day singing at Walnut Creek and the Hardshells had their annual foot washing at the Old Hickory Grove, so our attendance was slim. Nevertheless, some of us had a nice time at Old Hickory. Miss Donah Earnest was a visitor in our settlement last week. Miss Fannie Greggs is visiting her sister Mrs. Heffington. We wish her a pleasant visit. Miss Ollie Stone is visiting in the Cottonwood settlement this week. Will Livingston and Walter Hamilton came from Payne Springs to see us Saturday and Sunday. We were glad to see them werer we not, Sallie? It is reported that Miss Willie Joe Pickens is sick. We hope she will soon recover. Crops arelooking better. Rev. Parker did some good preaching Saturday, Saturday night and Sunday which was followed by an address by Rev. John Slaughter Sunday night. Doby.
