He was Tired of Life.
Special to The Republic
ATHENS, Tex., July 3,-- This evening County Clerk P. A. Hunt
shot himself.
Three shots in rapid succession were heard and Hunt was found
lying on the
floor with two bullet holes in his breast over the heart. The
third shot missed.
The two bullets passed through the body and lodged in the wall.
He left letters
stating that poor health was the cause. He was a Knight of
Pythias. In one of
his letters he says: "I am tired of life. My mind is as
clear today as it ever was."
He was badly deformed by rheumatism, which had bent his body into
a semicircle.
