ATHENS WEEKLY REVIEW
September 18, 1913

BROWNSBORO
September 16-Drs. Moss, Richardson and Moon met this eve to examine and determine whether amputation was necessary of Mr. A. L. Thomas’ finger caused from snake bite some ten days ago and they decided to give a little more time hoping they may yet be able to save his finger.

We have had a great deal of rain. Damaged cotton some on the low lands. But helps peas, turnips, potatoes, etc.

Rev. A. S. Poindexter was here on time Saturday and Sunday last and preached for us. Rained us out Saturday night. Been so much rain we have not been out to get much news this week.

Capt. Birdwell’s house begins to show up on Barton street.

Prof. W. G. Fowler’s house will be completed this week. Prof. is putting in turnips today.

W. C. Maxwell left Saturday for Mart, Texas, on business. He was to change cars at Waco going and coming. See.

W. C. Maxwell has sold one of his farms north of town to a man from the West. We haven’t learned his name but we will and get him to subscribe for the Review. They are coming in all the time buying homes. Country and town settling fast.

W. J. Stuart has put in a show case that reaches from the floor five feet high, reaches nearly across one end of his large store and that with its load of fine goods so nicely arranged makes you feel like we had stepped into Sanger Bros at Dallas. Oh I tell you things are picking up in Brownsboro. Our heavy weight merchants are putting in improvements and goods like we were making a full crop.

T. B. Davis
of Murchison was in town yesterday looking after his interest here.

Mr. Burden
of Hamilton left yesterday for his home after spending a few days looking after his farm near town.

E. M. Miller took a trip to Athens yesterday on business.

Mrs. Maggie Mitchell took a trip to Athens yesterday to patronize some of the fine dentists of the city

We have just shaken hands with Dr. French. He looks like he was prosperous either before or since he returned. Jolly as ever.

Miss Massey left today to attend Simmons College at Abilene.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. George Cook on 13th inst. A girl. Geo. Says he can whip Mexico by himself and J. J. Tergeson is now grandpa first time. Says he doesn’t car for no small things but the baby. He may run for congress if the Review editor doesn’t run. Says he can’t keep Grandma Tergeson at home since the new advent. J. J. sure is proud of this their first. Says his wife is worse than he is. Guess they will have another Scandanavian dance and may pass around the communion.
