Brown, Feb. 8.-- Springtime in Henderson county is wonderful.
Everyone is hatching chickens, planting gardens and
preparing for another crop. Getting ahead of old man
"Depression."

Health of this community passes with just a few "ails."
Grandma Terry suffers a lot with the cancer on her left hand.

Mr. and Mrs. Horace Terry's baby girl burned its mouth with
lye while her mother was washing Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Barney Gunnels have a big girl at their home.
She made her appearance last Wednesday, Feb. 3. The little
Miss was christened Myrtle Marie. Mother and baby are doing
fine.

Clifton Hatton spent the weekend at Opalika.

Little Donald Hatton has been on the sick list.

Mr. Mannahan, the Watkins man of Mabank, made his round
thru our community last Monday.

Mrs. Opal Gunnels spent last week at Edom with her brother,
who is seriously ill. He was taken to a hospital and is reported
better.

Mr. Wheeler and daughter of Malakoff were in our community
last Monday.

Sunday School and prayer meeting were attended by large
crowds. Everyone is welcomed back.

A. T. Crocker of Bozette was a visitor in the S. A. Johnson
home over the week-end.

Miss Winnie Bob Johnson who has been ill with the flu is able
to be out again.

The schools are progressing nicely. We surely can boast
wonderful discipline this year.

Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Andrews were Toole visitors last Monday.

Mr. Noah Fitzgerald and son, John were business visitors in
Athens last Saturday.

The parties last week were well attended. There are such a
large number of young folks in our circle now, room won't
permit us to name them all. Each one enjoyed themselves
wonderfully.

Billy Rogers spent last week with his sister, Mrs. Jones of
Palestine.

Preston Kenchian of Toole was among the younger class last
week-end.

Bro. and Mrs. Joe Everhart was in our midst last Thursday on
an emergency call.

The wife of *Bud Ruth was buried at Nankin, (Mankin bf)
January 30. We all give our sympathy to the bereaved ones.
The writer was not acquainted with the family but I find she
leaves a host of friends in our community.

Mr. Moore was a business visitor in Athens last week.

Miss Mary Ella Newsom who attended school in Kerens was
home for the week-end. P. H. Bristor, her uncle, came for her
Sunday afternoon to return back to school Monday morning.

The writer notices Clifton Hatton has an ad "seed corn for
sale". Good, so long for that. The price is right and the grade
and quality first class. Here's one farmer that wants to try the
seed. Have I a second? The law says plant lots of cotton but
here's believing some corn bread would go good and help a
case of "cottonitis" as Mr. Gillespie terms it. Eh, Uncle Dick?

Everyone remember church next Saturday night, February 13.
Bro. Joe Everhart of Kerens fills the pulpit. Sunday School
Sunday evening at 3:00 and prayer services Sunday night at 7
with Wilmer Moore leader. Everyone come and bring some
one with you.

*Wife of Bud Ruth - Gladys V. born April 15, 1905 died Jan. 29, 1932
buried Mankin Cemetery
