Athens Weekly Review
Black Jack Feb. 18, 1937
Black jack , Feb. 16-We were visited by our second sand
storm yesterday. It is somewhat early for sandstorms here
but maybe if they come early we will have a quieter spring
season than last year.
The farmers are all busy breaking land. It will not be land till
corne planting time.
Those on the sick list the past week were Marvin Walker
who has the chicken pox; Joe Smiley has been ill
most of
the week with the flu; R. H. Horton is still
suffering with the
rheumatism and the baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boykin
was ill but is better.
Mrs. Hazel Sessions and Mrs. Ola Norman spent
Saturday
afternoon with Mrs. Lela Hood of Murchison.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Cumbie and little Eugene spent
Tuesday
night with Mr. and Mrs. Artimus Cumbie of
Athens.
Mr. and Mrs. Truman Malone of Opelika visited
Mrs. Frank
Avant a few hours Saturday.
Egbert Oliver and wife of Red Hill spent
Saturday night and
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boykin.
Wallace and Arthur Bristow of
LaRue visited the Hudsons
of this place Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Byrd Porter of Murchison visited in
the R. H.
Horton home and the Sonny Ward home
Sunday afternoon.
Mrs. Joe Hawley of Leagueville spent Sunday with
her
mother, Mr. Donna McDonald.
Lets not forget church next Sunday morning and night.
