Mrs. Mollie Kale of Athens has received a telegram from the War
Department stating that her son, Pvt. William H. Kale, was
slightly wounded in the Phillipines on April 2nd. Pvt. Kale has
been overseas for 28 months.----------------------
Mrs. Ann Beard spent Friday in
Kaufman.------------------------------------
Mrs. R. C. Noble of Wichita, Kansas, is visiting her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Ross Smith at Eustace and Mrs. R. L. Noble of Athens.

Pfc. Cox Gets Bronze Star In Germany
Pfc. Norman O. Cox of Athens has been awarded the Bronze Star for
heroic achievement during military operations against the enemy.
He is serving with the 84th Infantry (Railsplitter) Division
commanded by Maj. Gen. A. R. Bolling.
During an attack against a German-held town, Cox made ten trips
over a road which was under direct enemy observation and heavy
artillery fire to supply his company with gasoline, rations and
ammunition.
Currently in action in Germany, Pvt. Cox took part in the Roer
River crossing and breakthrough to the Rhine.

Hubert Tindel EntersTwin - Engined Flying Course
At Enid Field
Recent arrivals at Enid Army Air Field of Enid, Oklahoma, for the
twin-engine advanced flying training course included Aviation
Cadet Hubert E. Tindel, 24, nephew of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis W.
Sholars of route 1, Larue.
Cadet Tindel, who went to Enid from Eagle Pass, where he received
his basic training, will receive his silver pilot's wings and be
appointed an officer in the Army Air Forces upon completion of
his training.
