Athens Masons To Have New Home
Athens, Texas July 7 1923
Masons of Athens and Henderson County will have a new home by
next fall as a result of the purchase and the remodeling
of the Frankie Bonner Connelly Building, on the public square,
at the intersection of Prairieville and West Corsicana streets.
About $30,000 will be spent in this work.
The new lodge building will take care of all the Masonic bodies
up to and including the Knights Templar. The dimensions of
the building over all are 37 1/2 feet by 142 1/2, while the
lodgeroom
proper, when completed, will be 36 by 60 feet. Other rooms
which will be included in the new home are a ladies' restroom.
a reading room, a room for meetings of the Eatern Star, a banquet
room, a preparation room and a kitchenette.
The present intention of the Athens lodge is to ask commandery,
Knights Templar, and arrangements are being made in the new
building to take care of the commandery when it is granted.
The remodeling of the building is being supervised by L. R. Wright,
architect, while the following Athens Masons are members
of the building committee: C. H. Coleman, Tom P.
Faulk,
Dr. R. H. Hodge, A. C. Hart, W.
B. Burk, A. S. Ford and
Dr. D. R. Coker.
