Ash Community

Ash, Aug 28-
Well, we're still dry folks. Not that it will make any difference in the consumption of liquor but it shows that Henderson County has plenty of good Christian abstainers, or at least they were wise enough to know what would have happened if we had gone dry.
The Apostolic meeting started here last Sunday night and is progressing nicely.
R. G. Tanner, Stirman Tanner, R. H. Tanner and N. O. Cox of Pine Grove have returned from South Texas where they went to pick cotton. Mr. Vandaveer states that he picked 14 pounds of cotton and caught 15 pounds of fish in one day.
The farmers who have plowed up their cotton are getting impatient for their money to help them out until crops are gathered -as it is they'll probably have their crops gathered before getting it.
The first bale of cotton was ginned from the this community Tuesday. It was grown by Jack Caraway.
Let's not forget the singing at Shelby Chapel next Saturday night and Sunday. This is an annual affair and a large crowd is expected. As usual dinner will be spread. Everyone is invited.
