Ash Community News

Our fellow townsman B. M. Madole is erecting another nice residence
which is quite an addition in our little berg. He believes in putting a
community to the top and coming up with it at the same time.
The 42 party last night was very interesting but ill luck played to my
hand and we try it over again Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Gothard went to Athens last Thursday where he underwent an
operation. The latest news from Dr. French says that Mr. Gothard is
doing nicely.
F. N. Roberts of Athens was making a late drive through Ash Saturday
night. Come again.
Miss Naomi Fletcher of Murchison accompanied her father to church
at Ash Sunday. She is certainly a kind little girl and we invite her back
at any date.
Nannie Lewis spent Thursday and Friday with Miss Mary Lou Baker
at Athens. Reports a dandy time.
The Speckle Cat from Flat Creek has been cutting some rustles around
Ash for the last few weeks. Look what he did Saturday night. Naughty boy.
Ulam Welborne was a called at Ash Sunday.
Quite a number of our Aztects are going to Murchsion Friday night.
Remember we meet at Ash Saturday night. Every one come.
Seems as if spring is again with us. We have trees and trees of ripe
peaches and others in full bloom. If winter doesn’t soon come we
will be harvesting two crops of peaches in one year. This like the
Hill country steer would be going some would it not?
Rista Frizzell of Athens brought two Hill county men out Friday and
we learn one of the gentlemen purchased Mr. J. R. Cantrell’s farm
west of the Spur and will soon move thereto. Where Mr. Cantrell
intends going we are unable to say.
People from the western country are in Ash every day prospecting.
Everyone is invited out Sunday at 3 p.m. to hear Bro. A. Vandaveer
deliver his Thanksgiving sermon. Come early and help up kids sing.
Our grocerman, Richard Ash, received a bill of nuts, fruits, etc. Saturday
and they lasted but a few hours. Richard ought to know that it takes a
lot of anything to do us country hompers so ask for another bill.
R. G. Vandaveer went to Wanda and other places last week. He is
buying wood for the Athens Fire Brick Co., Success be yours.
