ATHENS
ATHENS, Feb. 1. -- [Special] -- J. M. Franklin, of Brownsboro,
this county had $140 stolen from his store-house on last night by
one Bob Berry, who was duly arrested and searched by Constable
Hatton, who found the money on Berry. He was lodged in jail
to-night by Sheriff Davis.
The saw-mill of Binton & Giudle, near Brownsboro, was
consumed by fire last night, by an incendiary. Two parties,
charged with the offense of course were arrested and will be
tried to-morrow. Loss was about $2,500 no insurance.
About twenty of our citizens started tonight to attend Mardi Gras
at New Orleans.
Justice court closed to-day with but little done.
