July 30, 1910 Capture an Alligator SPECIAL TO THE NEWS Athens, Tex., July 29--At the Joe Wynn pond, northwest of Brownboro this county, yesterday, J A Chatman, R W Coker and Willie Chatman captured an alligator which was seven and one-half feet long, and weight about 100 pounds. It was an long way from any large running stream and was evidently very old, as it had only four teeth left, and showed other marks of age. It had dug out an excavation extending some sixteen feet back in the bank surrounding the water and from which the men forced it by long poles. In their effort to capture it alive it was accidentally killed. The Dallas Morning News |
