Loss Dowell Dies; Funeral Services Friday Afternoon James Lawson (Loss) Dowell, a well-known resident of Athens died in a local hospital Wednesday 10:30 p.m. following a very brief illness. He was 71 years of age. Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Marvin Johnson and the Rev. Wilson Carwile at 2 p.m. Friday from the West Athens Baptist Church and interment was in the Athens City Cemetery. Hassell and Foster Funeral Home of Athens was in chrage of arrangements. Born in Van Zandt County, Mr. Dowell had been a resident of Athens since he was a small boy. He was a returied contractor and a member of the West Athens Baptist Church. At one time, he served the church as a deacon. Mr. Dowell and his wife, Mattie, observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary Austust 20, 1951. They were married in Athens and Mrs. Dowell was the former Miss Mattie Callaway of Stockard. Survivors include his wife, a son Alvin Dowell of Athens; a foster son Beauford Callaway of Los Alamos, New Mexico; a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Long of Athens; two brothers, Wash Dowell of Mabank and Lonnie Dowell of Athens; a sister Mrs. Addie Shelton of Athens, two grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Funeral Services Held Sunday For Morgan Sanders Funeral services wer held at the First Baptist Church of Canton Sunday at 3 p.m. for Morgan G. Sanders, 77, of Canton, former congressman whose Third Congressional District included Henderson County in the late 1920's and early 1930's. Sanders-died Saturday in a Corsicana hosptial after a long illness. The services were conducted by the Rev. T. T. Newton and burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery at Canton. Sanders, a native of Van Zandt County, lived in that area all of his life with the exception of the time he served in Congress from 1921 to 1939. He was a former district attorney and served in the Texas Legislature before being elected congressman. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge. He returned from Washington in 1939 and entered law practice at Canton. Survivors are his wife; one son Dr. Gutley Sanders of Kerens, one step-son Frank Martin of Tyler; one brother Dr. D. L. Sanders of Wills Point; one sister Mrs. Henry Cates of Seagoville; one foster daughter, Mrs. Hal Gregory of Dallas, two grandsons Dr. Terry Sanders of Kerens and Dr. Richard Sanders of Fort Bliss and four great-grandchildren, a neice, Mrs. Jim Dillard, who lives in Athens. Funeral Services Held Monday For Roy Campbell Funeral services were held here Monday for Roy Campbell who died at his home at Dallas Sunday afternoon after a brief illness. He was 55. Services were held fro mthe Hassell and Foster Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. T. L. Slimp officiating. Interment was in Athens City Cemetery. Born in Henderosn County, Mr. Campbell lived in Athns most of his life. He had been a resident of Dallas for several years, and was a contractor. Survivors include four sisters, Mrs. C. C. Ballard of T yler; Mrs. H. D. King of Houston, Mrs. W. V. Cumbie of Athens and Mrs. Lulu Hall of Dallas. Corsicana Rites Held Thursday for W. B. Reedy Funeral services were held Thursday at 3:30 p.m. at Corsicana for W. B. Reedy, 54, manager of the Texas Employment Commission office there and brother of Mrs. E. T. Wolfe of Athens, who died Wednesday in a Corsicana hosptial of injuries received Friday night when his automobile was struck by a train at a grade crossing north of the city. The services were conducted by the Rev. John Wesley Ford, pastor of the First Methodist church, and burial was in the Resthaven Memorial Park. Mr. Reedy, a native of Clay County, was alone at the time of the accident. Surviving are his wife of Corsicana, three daughters, Mrs. Earl Bryant, Dallas, Mrs. Travis Aston, Corsicana and Mrs. Hayden Tyner, Opelousas, La. ; seven grandchidlren; three brothers, D. W. Reedy, Salem, Ore., O. L. Reedy, Bleton, and Raymond Reedy, Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. E. T. Wolfe, Athens, Mrs. J. R. Swain and Mrs. B. K. Inmon, both of Dallas.	Funeral Services Held Monday for Mrs. Stewart Funeral services were held Monday in Athens for Mrs. Sarah Stewart, 64, who died at the home of her daughter in Dallas at 8:50 p.m. Saturday after a brief illness. Services were held from the Carroll and Lehr Memory Chapel at 2 p.m. with the Rev. J. W. Murphy officiating and interment ws in the Allen Cemetery. A resident of Dallas at the time of her death, Mrs. Stewart was a former resident of Ben Wheeler in Van Zandt County. She is survived by a son D. L. Stewart of Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. Lola Coke Beaird; a brother James R. Bell of Dallas; a sister, Mrs. Laura Guthrie of Poynor, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Frankston Rites are held for Hugh White Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church of Frankston Thursday afternoon for Hugh M. White, 58, Frankston druggist who died unexpectedly at his home there Tuesday. Dr. W. R. White, president of Baylor University and the Rev. Wayne Mitchell conducted the services and burial was in the Frankston cemetery. Mr. White had lived in Frankston all of his life and was a druggist there for the past 25 years. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankston. Survivors are his wife and mother Mrs. Ida Stringfield. Funeral Rites Held for Robert Simmons Funeral services were held Wednesday, Janaury 4 at Palestine for Robert Alonzo "Bob" Simmons, 81, who died at his home, route 2 Frankston, following an illness. The Rev. William Walker, Neches, conducted the services and burial was in the Fields Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Simmons, a retired farmer had lived in Anderson County all of his life. Survivors are his wife, three sons, Johnnie Simmons of Palestine, Ray Simmons, U. S. Army, stationed at Ford Hood, and George Simmons, Neches; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Kerr of Harligne and Mrs. Jennie Sue Rosamond, French Morocco Africa, and five grandchildren. Athens Woman is Killed in Wreck A 73-year-old Athens woman was killed and her 74-year-old husband was critically injured in an automobile accident near Ben Wheeler Wednesday about 10 a.m. Dead is Mrs. J. B. Ward. Mr Ward is in critical condition in Tyler Medical Center. Mrs. Ward's brother, W. R. Barnell of Abilene, said it has not yet been determined how the accident occurred. He said Mrs. Ward was killed instantly, and that her husband is not expected to recover from the injuries he recied in the mishap. The elderly couple resided in the 500 block of North Wofford. Funeral services for Mrs. Ward were held at 3 p.m. Thursday from the Cool Springs Church in Van Zandt County with the Rev. Irby McWilliams and the rev. Johnny Hutchison officiating. Burial was in the Cool Springs Cemetery. Other survivors are two sons, C. T. Ward of Dallas and Johnny Ward of Canton; three daughters Mrs. Foy Hutchison of Lubbock, Mrs. Iva Lewis of Tyler and Miss Lorena Ward of Athens; another borther L. E. Barnell of Abilene; a sister Mrs. T. B. Windham of Abilene and several grandchildren.
