M/M Herschel Davis returned to their home in Harlingen Monday
morning
after spending the week-end with home folks here.
Miss Maribell Gilliam Departed Sunday for Port Arthur where she
will resume
her duties as teacher in the Port Arthur school system.
Lee Gower, of Tyler, head of the Sinclair district office at
Tyler, was here
Sunday watching developments at the McElreath & Suggett test
two miles west of Athens.
Miss Marion McElroy, former teacher in the Athens high school,
was a visitor here
Saturday evening. She was returning to her work at Tyler after a
special 12-weeks
course of sturdy in Social Services work at Tulane University in
New Orleans. She
had been on leave of absence from her government post.
Elton Corley, former deputy sheriff, was here today from Dallas,
having been summoned
here as a witness in a case scheduled for hearing in district
court.
Miss Nellie Cade of Chandler, daugther of Joe Cade of that town,
has gone to Longview
where she will resume her duties as a teacher in the Longview
schools.
Banker I. T. Fulgham, of Brownsboro, associate district lay
leader for the Methodist Church,
filled the pulpit of the Liberty Hill Methodist Church in Smith
county on Sunday morning.
Carl Reynolds of this county, who is now playing with the Chicago
Cubs, was one of the

Mrs. Harry Murchison and daugther, Little Miss Marilyn have gone
to Peru, Nebraska,
where they are visiting in the home of her parents and her
sister. She will be away for
several weeks.
A large number of members of the First Baptist Church went to
Concord today to attend the
Baptist Workers Conference being held with the Concord Baptist
Church today.
Cashier Tom Davis Evans took advantage of the holiday to spend
the week-end in Lubbock
with his brother, George. He carried along a pair of batam
chickens to present to George.
