Wood School House Community News
Athens Weekly Review
April 10, 1924
April 7
We are having more beautiful sunshine now which is very needful
and which we are very thankful for, as the farmers are behind
with their work due to the late rains. Some corn is peeping up,
but looks very sick and some just planting corn. Some putting out
fertilizer at present, planning to plant cotton in a few days;
some planning to plant peas soon.
Preaching in the morning and singing in the afternoon was enjoyed
at the school house Sunday.
School closed Friday. Mrs. Louis Cox was our teacher. They are
now moving back home near Cox Chapel. We regret very much to give
them up, being our near neighbors. Mrs. Cox was a good teacher
and was loved by all her pupils.
Not very much news as there is not much visiting at present, for
the women are busy in the gardens and hunting turkey nests.
We are requested to announce there will be preaching Saturday
night before the fourth Sunday, the 27th at the school house.
Rev. Russell Edwards will be with us; one will preach for us.
Everybody come and bring someone with you and let us revive old
Wood School House community as of old.
Health is very good at present as most everyone who has had
whooping cough is well.
