ANOTHER LETTER FROM THE WEST
O'Donnell, Texas, April 30, 1925.
To the Editor of The Review
I thought I would write a few lines for the benefit of my numerous friends there. I take the Review
and read with pleasure of my old home and acquaintances, having lived in that county over a year
ago, because most of my children live here and for the benefit of my health.
My health is better since coming here. I will be 79 years old the 22nd day of June, 1925. I
think this is a fine country. My children and their families are all well pleased with the country. I
have just visited Oscar Ballow and family and they are well pleased with the country and intend
making their future home here.
We are having plenty rain; too wet to plant at present. We have some knockers here and some
visiting knockers but they are like the little red-headed peckerwood, the little hole they knock won't
hurt the country.
I have 18 grand children and 18 great grandchildren. I expect to visit Henderson county soon
and will be glad to see all my old friends, but it will make me sad as there are some I will meet no
more on this earth. I could name several that have passed away since I came here, but doubtless
I will miss Mrs. D. P. Holland, my dear neighbor and friend more than any one else. She was to me
as a sister as she was my nearest neighbor for 35 years, but I know her soul is at rest.
I would enjoy attending the Primitive Baptist meeting at Rome in May and meeting my old
friends.
Yours truly,
*Mrs. N. P. Crisswell (she was the wife of Joseph Littleton John Crisswell)

Matchett and Elizabeth Tolar Williams (my great great grandparents.)
