Memorial Day Service On April 30

April 30 is Memorial Day at Zion Hill Assembly of God Church. All interested people are asked to come and bring along a basket lunch and spend the day. There will be a business meeting
for the upkeep of the cemetery beginning at 10:30 a.m. and preaching at 11 a.m. Invite your friends or relatives to come and join us.

Mr. Tom Carpenter has gone to Louisiana to meet his son who has arrived from Spain by airplane.

Cathy Youngblood spent the weekend with Pam Ramsey.

Miss Sue Marie Foster of Athens has announced her approaching marriage, April 29, to John Marcus Bailey of Malakoff. The bride-to-be's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Welton Foster, formerly
lived here prior to moving to Athens several years ago. Sue Marie is also a niece of Mrs. Betty Youngblood of this place. She is also among those graduating from Athens High School this term.

Little Karl Whitehead is the proud owner of four new baby cats. Karl has named them Blackie, Dusty, Rustly and Blondy. The mother cat's name is Sandy.

Rita Knight visited Diana Yougblood Friday night and Saturday.

Our writer and family, Slyvin, Cherrlyn and Karl Whitehead and Mrs. Della Youngbllod were Saturday visitors in the Marshall McGlaun home of Athens, having lunch and a very
enjoyable visit with them.

Mr. Hunter and family were down from Dallas recently checking his cattle.

Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth McGlaun and family of Athens visited the Lillian Slayton home recently.Rain, rain, rain. We've been having it, but our writer is pleased to report her lake has filled up.
Very little water was in it until now. Someday we hope to have it stocked with fish. This rain has done wonders for grasslands, pastures and gardens.

Mr. and Mrs. McKinny Vaughn and grandson, Davon Weatherford, were recent visitors in the Della Youngblood home. Davon lived next door to the Youngbloods most of his life before
moving with his parents over on new Highway 19 where they are now in business.

Levi Halbert was by our way last week checking our roads after so much rain. Since our road was graveled sometime ago, it is still in good shape, but the old Highway 19 in some places
was again washed out. A bridge is impassable now en route to Athens, and is blocked off until the weather fairs up for repairing it.

Sylvin Whitehead visited with a boy friend in Athens one night last week.

Jesse Lowry, husband of Cherry Sue Lowery, left Friday for Washington. Cherry Sue accompained him as far as Dallas.E. McWilliams' home was burned last week while he was away. We are very sorry to learn of his misfortune.

Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Rice went shopping recently for material to build the barbecue pit at our new Featherston Roadside Country Park, but due to rainy conditions over the week end the barbecue
pit wasn't completed as planned.. Three men from Athens have volunteered to do the work. They are Harold Arnold, Larry Coker and Jimmy Mitchell.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Henderson and daughters, Lori and Tammieof Athens, were out at the Newts Stillwell Ranch recently getting hay for Hugh to use in carrying his MVP group on a hayride.
They came back by our park and had a very enjoyable drink from the spring.

Newt and Juanita Stillwell, also Wilma Waddell and Marguerite Henderson of Athens were out Wedenesday at the farm, and visited our park a while before returning home. We appreciate
their great interest very much.

Fred Miller and wife were Friday night visitors in George Jones home in Athens.

Those visiting Sunday in the E. A, Rice home were Newt and Juanita Stillwell. They enjoyed a nice forty-two party and had lunch with them.Zack Simms of Winnsboro was a recent visitor
in the Cason home.

H. T. Youngblood and family were Sunday visitors in Mabank in the Pat Eves home.

While visiting our correspondent a few nights ago, our neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. McKenny Vaughn, were wondering how I collected as much news as I do. "Do you ride a bicycle?"
Mr. Vaughn asked. Naturally he was joking. "No, I use my telephone," was the reply. It's my helper in making my weekly report possible, and my many nice friends of who call news in to me.

Week end visitors in the Fred Miller home were Louis and Nellie Johnston, and daughter Ramona, also Tommy Miltner, all of Dallas, Herman Johnston and son, Johnny, of Mesquite,
and Raymond Fladd of Athens.

Larry and Gary Foster of Irving were Sunday afternoon visitors in the H. T. Youngblood home.

Fred and Ada Miller were recent visitors in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Joy Fladd and family of Dallas.

Bessie Fladd is out of the hospital and at the home of her son, G. R. Fladd, of Athens. The Miller's, Fred and Ada, also visited in his home Saturday night.

Raymond Jones, wife and daughter, Beth, of Marshall visited his parents and the Millers here over the week end.Sorry to hear about James Green being ill and in Wolfe-Duphorne hospital.
I wish him a speedy recovery.
