ATHENS REVIEW 1913
Murchison
Ralph MITCHAM has been visiting some of his little friends in Athens this week.
Miss Hassie DOUGLAS of Martins Mill spent Saturday here, guest of Mrs. Earl PRESTRIDGE.
Mrs. SKELTON and children are visiting friends and relatives in Navarro county this week.
J.D. BROWNING has purchased the residence of Mrs. J. O. DENTON. Mrs. DENTON is having the ground leveled up for the erection of another one just a few yards south of the one first sold.
Miss Mollie JONES was in Athens shopping Saturday.
MURPHEE Bros. are erecting a nice little building on main street to be used for a restaurant and meat market.
D. R. CUMBIE has the brick and lumber on the ground for his new residence.
A. W. DAVIS has bought out the restaurant of GREEN & Son. He will add more equipment to the house so that he will be able to better accommodate the public.
Sam and Frank FLETCHER of Alba came in Friday to attend the bedside of their sister, Mrs. Naomi LEWIS who is reported very ill.
Prof. W. H. CULBERTSON of Ash but late of this place was here a few days ago. He has decided to teach this year rather than attend college.
The Murchison Star, a newspaper to be published at this place, will make its appearance in the course of two or three weeks. The machinery has already been ordered and will no doubt be here in a few days. We will be glad (?) to place the Ben Wheeler Headlight. (formerly the Murchison Progress) upon our exchange list.
B. R. BOYKIN and Tint SCOTT of Black Jack were in Murchison Sunday night.
Mrs. D. N. SCOTT returned Sunday from a visit to her daughter in Tyler.
Prof. Dan BROWNING returned from a trip to LaRue Friday.
Mrs. Naomi Lewis is reported better at this writing (Tuesday.)
Frank BLACK, Eustace TOWNLEY and Clyde COOK will represent Murchison in the Smith County Singing convention Saturday and Sunday.
Mr. Mayo, our station agent, has resigned his position with the railroad company and will leave in a few days for another field. We have not learned yet where he will go.
Rev. A. VANDAVEER of Ash preached here Sunday at eleven o'lock. Seems like the preachers have a hard time getting the members out to church at Murchison, especially on Sunday. If the preachers will go to the depot to do their preaching we will guarantee them a congregation to preach to.
Remember we have choir practice every Saturday and Sunday night. Something special or next Saturday night.
Everybody fixing to go to the show. Don't guess this chicken can go, but remember we will be all around here. Observer.
