18th Texas Cavalry Muster Roll From Texans in the Civil War Gantt, Jacob M., Sgt. (Gauntt, Jacob Middleton) Owen, Francis M. (Owen, Francis Marion) Owen, John S. (Owen, John Stiner) Owen, Randolph, Sgt. (Owen, William Randolph) Owen, Samuel H. Cpl (Owen, Samuel Houston) Stephens, John F. ,Sgt (Stephens, John Franklin) Knight, William C. (Knight, William Charles) William Randolph Owen was a son to Samuel Tine Owen and Sarah "Sallie" Ward Knight. Samuel Houston and John Stiner Owen were grandsons of Samuel Tine Owen. Samuel and John's parents were Judge David Allen Owen and Mary M. Lansdale. Francis Marion Owen was the son of John Bunyan Owen (brother to Samuel Tine Owen) and Eleanor Huggins. John Franklin Stephens married Eleanor Harriet Owen. Eleanor was a daughter to John Bunyan (brother to Samuel Tine Owen) and Eleanor Huggins. Jacob Middleton Gauntt was a cousin by marriage. William Charles Knight was a son-in-law to John Bunyan Owen and Eleanor Huggins. William married their daughter, Martha M. Owen. All were killed during the Campaign for Vicksburg except John Franklin Stephens and William Charles Knight. John and William were captured at Arkansas Post and sent to Camp Douglas. Research on the 18th is difficult because they were scattered from Port Hudson to Arkansas Post. The main unit was in the Vicksburg area. transcribed by Louis R. Owens
