District court convened Monday with the Hon. Y. Y. Gooch presiding, L.W. Meredith, county attorney, W. O. Williams, sheriff, and J. R. Blades, district clerk. To date the following business has been transacted: E. A. Carroll, foreman, Webb McWilliams, Jno. B. Murphree, Bob Gauntt, W. C. Waldsom, Will Caldwell, W. C. Ballard, Willie Johnson, R. C. Calloway, Dick Carson, J. T. Dees, Lem Ansley were qualified and impaneled to serve as grand jurors. John Cantrell, S. W. Floyd, Z. T. DeShazo, W. A. Anthony, N. B. Jones, M. J. Holland, W. H. Davis, H. V. Bagwell and J. M. Harden were appointed bailiffs by court for the grand jury. Petit jurors named in this paper three weeks ago, with 9 additional were qualified to serve for the week. State v T.R.Yantis; venire of 60 men ordered; set for Jan. 26. State v Laura Williams; venire of 36 men ordered; case set Feb. 15th. The civil docket will occupy the court's attention this and next week, after which the criminal docket will be taken up. Cases disposed of: J M Mernoy vs Mary Mernoy contioned by consent. J T Collins v E J Thompson. Judge Gooch disqualified. Leona Williams v Gus Williams. divorce granted W W Ingram vs Mary Ingram: divorce granted. D R Murchison v R L Beck; judgment for plaintiff. J B Wofford v J S Sealy; judg't for plaintiff. Two cases. W B byers and Arch Moore vs F J Hancock; judg't for plaintiffs. Nancy Johnson vs B J Johnson, divorce granted. Louise Meazelle, et al., v Jeff Meazelle, et al.; Jno S Jones appointed guardian of minor def'ts. W W Wallace v Mary Wallace divorce granted. Numerous cases against the St. Louis S W Ry were continued for service. Wednesday the case of P E Miller v St Louis S W Ry was on trial Verdict for plaintiff yesterday.
