Aley Community
Will Driver died on morning of 13th and was buried on the 14th at
King's Schoolhouse Cemetery. 
He leaves a wife and five small children to mourn the loss of a
loving father and husband.

Agnes R. Maddox 
Services for Agnes R. Maddox, 80, of Kemp were held at 2 p.m. Sunday
at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with
Dr. Rocky Weatherford officiating.  
Burial followed at King Cemetery in Henderson County under the
direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank. 
Mrs. Maddox died Nov. 18, 1999, in Kemp. 
She was born Oct. 3, 1919, in Henderson County to Thomas Austin and
Martha Ann Powell Bateman. She was a
lifetime resident of Henderson County and was a Baptist. She was a
member of the Eastern Star of Gun Barrel City, where she formerly
held the position of  worthy matron. 
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Maddox; and
daughter, Patsy Lowe. 
Mrs. Maddox is survived by her daughter, Geraldine Haggard of Kemp;
sister, Velma Vilott of Santa Fe Springs, Calif.; brother, Sidney
Bateman of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Paul Lowe, Kim Fennel,
Clint Haggard and Shannon Haggard; seven great-grandchildren; three
stepgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family
members. 
Pallbearers were Charles Powell, James Vernon Powell, Clint Haggard,
Mike Fennell and Tim Wilson. 

Annie Starek
Services of remembrance were held for Annie Starek, 96, of Kemp, at
Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2004,
at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Larry Porch officiating. Interment followed
at the King Cemetery in Henderson County.
She was born in Czechoslovakia, Feb. 28, 1908, to Joseph and Monika
Balajka, and died in Corsicana Oct. 30, 2004. She married Frank
Starek, Jr. on Nov.10, 1926. They shared 66 years together, living
mostly in Ellis and Henderson counties. She was a homemaker, loved
her gardening and had the prettiest garden around, with lots of
flowers. She loved every kind of
flower. Mrs. Starek also loved fishing. If anyone mentioned fishing,
she was ready to go. She holds the record in the family for catching
the biggest fish at 87 years old, a 55 pound yellow cat, caught in
the pond by her home. She loved to cook and her kitchen always
smelled of fresh yeast rolls, donuts and cinnamon rolls. She enjoyed
having friends stop by, always offering them a sweet roll or
something. She will be missed by all.
Her husband, Frank, preceded her in death in 1993. Brothers, Paul
and Pete Balajka; sisters, Mary Bistricky and Emily Stanek; and two
granddaughters, Linda Kay Starek Thompson and Rhonda Starek, also
preceded her.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Don
Sheppard of Corsicana, Joan and Ray Stewart of Ennis, and Dorothy and
Kenneth Baker of Kemp; sons and daughters-in-law, Jerry and Betty
Starek of Kemp, and Richard and Cherris Starek of Mt. Vernon; 16
grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Dennis Starek, Tracy Thompson, Larry Joe Starek,
Keith Starek, Jamie Starek, and Scott Lamb. Honorary pallbearers were
Dwayne Baker and Timmy Stewart.

MRS. HENDERSON WAS BORN ON FEB 14,1907 IN THE ALEY COMMUNITY IN

SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF MR. AND MRS. WILL HAMMONDS.
SHE WAS EDUCATED IN THE HENDERSON COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND WAS A
MEMBER OF THE COTTAGE HEIGHTS BAPTIST CHURCH IN  KAUFMAN. MRS
HENDERSON LIVED IN KAUFMAN FOR THE PAST TEN YEARS.

ALEY COMMUNITY.

Funeral services for James W. "Bill" Sides, 68, of Kemp were held
for 10:30 a.m. Monday December 13th at the Aley United Methodist
Church in Seven Points with Eston Williams officiating. Burial
followed at King Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral
Home in Seven Points.
Mr. Sides passed away Thursday in Gun Barrel. Bill was born December
20, 1935 in Cleburne, Texas. He served in the United States Air Force
from 1954 to 1957 during the Korean War. He was a Police Officer for
the cities of Arlington and North Richland Hills for a combined 12
years, and he worked for the University of Texas Health Science
Center where he was the Superintendent of Utilities for 18 years. He
owned and operated Buddy's Liquor in Gun Barrel for 9 years and
owned the Bookshelf in Seven Points for the past 4 years.
He is survived by his wife Kay Sides of Kemp; children, Kayla Hughey
of Kemp, Shawn Hughey of New York, Vickie Hicks of Lansing, NY, and
Maria Hall of Portland, Oregon; and seven grandchildren.

BOBBY JACK HENDERSON BURIED ON  AUGUST 22, 1992 OF KEMP BY ANDERSON
CLAYTON  BROTHERS. HE DIED IN A TERRELL HOSPITAL AUGUST 19, 1992. HE
WAS BORN AUGUST 6, 1933 IN ALBA. HE LIVED IN KEMP SINCE 1986 MOVING
THERE FROM IRVING WHERE HE HAD LIVED FOR 30 YEARS. HE SERVED IN THE
ARMY AND SPENT SEVERAL YEARS COACHING CHILDRENS FOOTBALL AND
SOFTBALL, WORKING WITH INNER CITY YOUTHS AND WMCA. WIFE: MELBA
HENDERSON OF KEMP,MOTHER: JETTIE HENDERSON OF IRVING,SON:CHARLES

Brenda Kay Scarborough 
Services for Brenda Kay Scarborough, 34, of Gun Barrel City are
scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Legendary Baptist Church in Gun
Barrel City with Mr. Billy Hodges and the Rev. Ron Flurry officiating. 
Burial will follow at King Cemetery in Henderson County under the
direction of Eubank Funeral Home of Mabank. 
Mrs. Scarborough died Nov. 29, 1998, in Athens following a sudden
illness. 
She was born April 26, 1964, in Waco to Glenda Yarbrough. Previously
from Lewisville, she had resided in Gun Barrel City for the past six
years and was Baptist by faith. 
Mrs. Scarborough is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck"
Scarborough of Gun Barrel City; her son, Alan Ray Scarborough of Gun
Barrel City; one sister, Crissie Nicole Scarborough of Gun Barrel
City; cousins, Carla Alder and Teresa Wolverton of Garland; one
uncle, Pete Adler of Garland; other family members; and a host of
friends. 

Biddie Nina Williams
Funeral services were held for Biddie Nina Williams, 89, of Kemp on
Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home with the
Revs. Dale Mason and James Hughes officiating. Interment followed in
the King Cemetery in Henderson County.
Mrs. Williams was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Idabell, Okla., to Robert
Boaz and Ella Mae (Gambrell) Ford and died Oct. 31, 2002, in Kaufman.
She was a lifetime member of the Tolosa Baptist Church. She married
Thomas G. Williams in Garvin, Okla., on Aug. 22, 1931, and he
preceded her in death on July 16, 1987. Her parents, four sisters and
five brothers also preceded her.
She is survived by a lot of nieces and nephews.
Members of the family were pallbearers.

Kaufman Herald Oct 6, 1949
C E Little 64, Burns to Death at Tolosa Last Week
Funeral rites were conducted at the Kings Cem in the Aley Community
Thur afternoon for Cecil Everett Little, 64, who burned to death Wed
morning at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs Tom M Little. Mr
Little's charred body was found by Mrs Little and other members of
the family when they came home at noon Wed. He had obviously been
burning trash, which spread to nearby grass. It is believed that he
must have stumbled over a wire fence directly into the flames. The
clothing was burned from his body. Lyle Price, minister of the Church
of Christ at Kaufman, officiated. Burial was made in Kings Cem. Mr
Little
was born on 10/23/1884 at Lewisburg, Marshall Co, TN. He moved to
Styx in 1901 and operated a community store there for many years.
About three weeks before the tragedy which took his life, he sold his
store and moved to the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs Tom A Little.
He was the son of the late Mr & Mrs John Little, pioneer residents of
the Tolosa Community.
Surviving are his two brothers, Frank Little of Greenville and J D
Little of Gainesville. He was never married. Mr Little had been a
member of the Church of Christ at Styx for many years.

Services for Charles "Rudy" Miller, 58, of Kemp are scheduled for 11
a.m. Tuesday at Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. Lester
Cody III officiating.
Burial will follow at King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank
Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Miller died March 22, 2002, in Athens. 
He was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Dallas.
Mr. Miller worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier.
He was a member of the NALC Postal Union.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Miller of Kemp; daughter, Shelly
Clark of Dallas; sister, Marilyn Cody of Royce City; brother, Jan
Miller of Tawakoni; and two grandchildren. 

Clarence Joseph Tetzlaff
Graveside services for Clarence Joseph Tetzlaff, 92, of Irving were
held at King Cemetery in Aley with Father Joe Kallookalam
officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Tomlinson
Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mr. Tetzlaff died Feb. 1, 2003, in Irving.
He was born Sept. 2, 1910, in Wasau, Wisc.
Mr. Tetzlaff was a Catholic and retired from the security field.
Survivors include his son, Gerald Tetzlaff of Irving; niece, Joan
Callahan of Wasau, Wisc; granddaughter, Veronica Hangar of Grapevine;
three brothers; and one sisters.

1-13 Claudie 'Tokey' Stone
Funeral services for Claudie "Tokey" Stone, 82, of Kemp will be held
2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2005, in the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel
with the Rev. Richard Fulton officiating.
Interment will follow in the King Cemetery under the direction of
Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kemp.
Mr. Stone was born Oct. 15, 1922, in the Aley Community to the late
Marion Alexander and Minti (Bateman) Stone and passed away Jan. 8,
2005, in Athens. He was Baptist by faith and was a veteran of the
U.S. Army serving during World War II.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Lou Stone of Kemp; daughter,
Claudie Jean Hudspeth of Aley; 2 grandchildren; and numerous nieces,
nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Charles 'Rudy' Miller

Don Sibley Allsup 
Graveside services for Don Sibley Allsup, 69, of Seven Points were
held at 2 p.m. Monday at King Cemetery in Aley with the Rev. Byron
Jones officiating. 
Mr. Allsup died Nov. 6, 1999, in Tyler. 
He was born August 29, 1930, in Dallas to Alpheaus and Pearl Allsup.
He lived in Augusta County for 31 years. He retired from Georgia
Power Company, served in the U.S. Air Force for four years and in the
U.S. Army for 23 years. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the
national defense service medal and the Vietnam service medal with
three bronze stars. He also received the Army commendation medal,
good conduct medal, the bronze star, the VN Cross of Gallantry/Palm
bronze
service stars and the Vietnam campaign medal. He lived in the Cedar
Creek Lake area for nine years and was a member of the Seven Points
City Council, the Economic Development Corporation and a lifetime
member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was currently the mayor of
Seven Points and was a Protestant. 
Mr. Allsup is survived by his wife, Claudett; daughters and sons-in-
law, Vickie and Richard Johnson of Waynesboro, Ga., and Karen and
Bobby Hawkins of Augusta, Ga.; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and
Julie Allsup of Martinez, Ga.; and eight grandchildren. 
Pallbearers were C.W. Daniel, C.D. Smith, Randy Whitehurst, Gerald
Taylor, Danny Mills and Eric Taylor. 
Honorary pallbearers were Charles Reed, Tommy Taylor and Mike
Earnheart. 

Debbie Gardner Harrison
Debbie Gardner Harrison, 50, of Terrell died in Terrell on Dec. 22,
2004. She was born Debbie Carol Gardner, Dec. 17, 1954, in Dallas,
daughter of J. D. and Zola (Greenhaw) Gardner.
She married Jerry Harrison in 1992 and they had a wonderful
marriage. Mrs. Harrison was a good Christian and she loved Jesus, her
husband and her family. She was an employee of Southland Athletics in
Terrell and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. She was of the Baptist
faith.
Survivors include husband, Jerry, of Terrell; daughter, Kanesha Dawn
Dearing of Sachse; son, Christopher Michael Donaldson of Dallas; two
sisters, Nancy Vanoverschelede of Coppell and Shirley Hill of Seven
Points; mother, Zola Gardner of Seven Points; stepfather, Jim Smith
of Seven Points; grandchild, Alissa Dearing of Sachse; nephew,
Matthew Reece of
College Station; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services were held Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at 2 p.m., at Anderson
Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp, with the Rev. Eston Williams
officiating. Interment followed in the King Cemetery in Henderson
County. The family received friends at the funeral home Sunday
evening from 6-8 p.m..

Donna Reneigh Fetch
Graveside services for Donna Reneigh Fetch, 58, of Mabank are
scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at the King Cemetery in Seven Points.
Services are under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven
Points.
Mrs. Fetch died Sunday in Athens.
She was born April 30, 1946, in Nampa, Idaho. She worked as an
administrative assistant for a law firm; and in her spare time, she
loved to do her sewing, embroidery and quilting.
Survivors include by her children and their spouses, Tammy Fetch of
Fort Worth, Kevin and Rhonda Fetch of Fort Worth, Vicki Lyn and Jeff
Ignat of Mabank, Brian Fetch of Fort Worth; parents, Richard and
Elanor Trefren of Denver; nine brothers; one sister; grandchildren
Kristin Fetch of Alvarado, and Kevin Lee Fetch II of Fort Worth.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dudley P. Walker
Services for Dudley P. Walker, 67, of Seven Points, Texas, were
Monday, June 19, 2000, in Eubank Memorial Chapel, in Maybank, Texas.
Interment will be in King Cemetery, in Henderson County. Mr. Walker
was born August 4, 1932, in Montgomery County, Texas, to Dudley
Bryant and Ora Opal (Bush) Walker, and passed away Thursday, June 15,
2000 in Kaufman County.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Walker, of Seven Points,
daughters, Dianne Duris, of Katy, Elaine Creighton, of The Woodlands,
Pam Briton, of Conroe and Molly Ragsdale, of Seven Points; eight
grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; brother, Randel Walker, of
Cleveland; sisters, Betty Canon, of Longview, Lula Wallace, of New
Caney and Bonnie Foster, of Cleveland; and a host of other family and
friends.

Kemp -  Services for Edward Sanford "Big Son"
Shelton, 80, Kemp, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Tomlinson
Funeral Home Chapel, Seven Points, with Ken Maddox officiating. 
Burial will be in the Aley/King Cemetery.
Mr. Shelton died April 24, 2001, in Kaufman.  He was born October
16, 1920, in Powell to the late Johnny Mack and
Maudie May (Brown) Shelton.  He served in the Army during World War
II, and moved to Kemp in 1968 from Duncanville.  He was a truck
driver for Decker Packing Co., and a member of Beacon Church of
Christ, Gun Barrel City.  He was preceeded in death by his first
wife, Annie Mae (Zube) Shelton, brother, William Shelton and sister,
Johnnie Mae Butler.
Survivors include his wife of 11 years, Mildred Maurine (Godwin)
Shelton, Kemp;  sons, Billy Gene Shelton, Carrollton;  Randall Glenn
Shelton , Seven Points;  Sanford Ray Shelton and Leland Wayne
Shelton, both of  Gun Barrel City:  daughters, Wanda June Brown, Red
Oak, and Rebecca "Becky" Ferguson, Athens:  sister, Pauline Alexander

p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Christian Life Center with the Rev.
John Creamer and the Rev. Larry Nulisch officiating. Interment
followed at King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek
Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Smith died Sunday, June 30, 2002, in Seven Points. She was born
July 6, 1938, in Terrell.
She was preceded in death by brother, Truman O. Rice.
Survivors include husband, Oddie V. Smith of Seven Points; father,
Truman Rice of Seven Points; mother, Rev. Lucille King Rice of Seven
Points; son, Mark Smith of Seven Points; grandsons, Dustin Smith and
Nathan Smith.
Pallbearers were Mike Smith, Kenny Smith, Ricky Smith, Jermery
Smith, Kevin Smith, and Chris Coburn.

Mrs. Ethel Montgomery Mains
Mrs. Ethel Montgomery Mains, 81, died Wednesday, Dec. 8, 1999 in
Weatherford, Texas. Mrs. Mains was born Feb. 1, 1918 in St. Joe,
Okla. to the late John and Clara Hampton (Coker) Montgomery.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 199 in the
Legendary Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City with the
Rev. Thurman Boatwright, the Rev. Rick Montgomery and the Rev. Ron
Flurry officiating. Interment followed in the King Cemetery in Aley,
Texas under the direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kemp.
Survivors include Clyde N. Mains; daughters and sons-in-law, Glenna
and Marvin Walker of Weatherford, Texas, Nelda and Lee Padgett and
Charlotte and Charles Lair of Gun Barrel City; 10 grandchildren, Ben

Glenn Ignat
Rosary for Glenn Ignat, 53, Mabank, were held Oct. 22, 2004, at
Eubank Memorial Chapel. Services were Oct. 23. 2004, with Msgr. John
Brrennan officiating. Interment was in King Cemetery under the
direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank. Ignat was
born Jan. 20, 1951, in Painsville, Ohio, and died Oct. 18, 2004, in
Mabank. He was preceded in
death by his mother, Rosemarie (Sivak) Ignat and father, Henry Ignat. 
He was a home builder and resident of Mabank for 23 years.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ignat, Mabank; sons, Stephen Plata
and wife, Layci, Mabank; Romeo (Beau) Mancillas, Mabank; daughters,
Sarah Moreno, Mabank; Justine Beem, Mabank; Army Plata, Lawton,
Okla.; Nancy Beem, Illinois; grandchild, Jordan Nicole; brothers,
Jeff Ignat and wife, Vicki Lyn, Mabank; Daryl Ignat, Ohio; John Henry
Ignat, Florida; sisters, Cheryl Chan, Pam Cirino, Diana Michael, Mary
Radke and Debbie Hudson all of Ohio.

Garland S. O'Pry
Services of remembrance were held for Garland S. O'Pry, 89, Kemp,
February 25, 2003, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, with Rev.
Dub Henry officiating.  Interment followed at King Cemetery in
Henderson County, near Kemp.
O'Pry was born August 3, 1913, in Limestone County and passed away
Saturday, February 22, 2003, in Kemp. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo O'Pry, September 17,
1999, his parents, and a son, Garland Ray O'Pry.

Graveside services for Harold Kenneth Penrose Jr., 69, of Gun Barrel
City are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday at King Cemetery in Seven
Points with Jim Alford officiating. The service is under the
direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points. 
Mr. Penrose died Aug. 14, 1999, in Seven Points.  
He was born April 28, 1930, He retired from Wal-Mart in 1995, and
opened a lawn and garden equipment repair in Seven Points. 
He is survived by his daughters, Diana Pietrzykowski of Vancouver,
Wash., and Pamela Tower of Gresham, Ore.; sons, Harold K. Penrose III
of Kaufman, Randy Johnson of Lebannon, Mo.; their mother, Dionne
Penrose of California; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one
niece; and six nephews.

Funeral services for Jo Anne Furrer, 71 of Styx, were at 10 am.
March 21 at Church of Christ in Seven Points with Rev. Wayne England
and Rev. Lawrence Taylor officiating. Interment followed at King
Cemetery in Aley under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home of
Seven Points.
Mrs. Furrer was born October 16, 1931 in Wharton County and passed
away March 18, 2003 in Styx. She was a housewife and a member of the
Church of Christ of Seven Points. She served in the US Navy during
the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, John Furrer of Styx;
sons, Steven Furrer and wife Sarah of Austin; Douglas Furrer of
Kaufman and Doyle Lashley of Kansas; daughters, Lori Dunagan and
husband, Paul of Kemp and Barbara Furrer of Styx; sister, Patricia
Schultz of Houston; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

James Ray Baker
Funeral services for James Ray Baker, 68, of Kemp were held at 3
p.m. Monday July 26, 2004 at the Anderson Clayton Brothers Funeral
Home Chapel in Kemp with the Rev. Steve Hawkins and the Rev. Kellan
Warren officiating. Interment followed in the King Cemetery near Kemp.
James Ray Baker was born on August 8, 1935 in Forney, Texas, the son
of the late James Russell and Sybil Arbuckle Baker and passed away on
July 23, 2004 in Kemp. He lived in the Kemp area for the past 18
years and was a member of the Lively Missionary Baptist Church. He
married Mary Williamson on May 21, 1987 in Lively.
He is preceded in death by a son, Steven Baker in 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Baker of Kemp; son, James Scott
Baker of Crandall; step-son, Bryant Whiteley of Georgie;
grandchildren, Stephanie Raeanne Grimes of Austin, Kimber Ryan baker
of Balch Springs; step-grandchildren, Tyler Bryant, Joshua Trey,
Taylor Brooke Whiteley all of Georgia; sisters, Joyce Carlew of Royse
City, Marsha Lemons of Grand Prairie and Danna Howell of Ft. Worth;
as well as numerous other friends and relatives.

Services for James Isaac Bingham, 90, of Gun Barrel City are

Mr. Bingham died June 19, 1999, in Kaufman.

J. M. Monds Dies In Dallas; Rites Tuesday at Kemp
J. M. Monds, 77-year-old retired farmer and lifelong resident of
Kemp, died early Monday afternoon in the home of a daughter, Mrs. J
.P. Greenhaw of Dallas. 
Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church of Kemp
Tuesday at 3 p. m. with burial in King Cemetery. Rev. J. E. Buell
conducted the rites. Grandsons were pallbearers.
Mr. Monds married the former Miss Emma Hansen in Athens on March 14,
1926.
Survivors include his wife of Dallas; a son C. E. Monds of Bonham;
two daughters Mrs. J. C. Thomas of Houston and Mrs. J. P. Greenhaw of
Dallas; three step daughters, eight grandchildren and one great
grandchild.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kemp.

LaVaughn was born May 1, 1926, in Grandview to William Alvin Bailey
Sr., and Ethel Mac McKnight Bailey and passed away Monday, Oct. 4,
2004, in Malakoff.  
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Gene
Bailey and William A. Bailey Jr.
She worked as a waitress at Norma's Cafe and was baptized into the
Mormon Church in Gilmer. 
Survivors include her husband, Cleveland Ruff, Seven Points;
daughter, Stacie Morris, Seven Points; grandchildren, Trenton Bailey
and Zackary Morris, both of Seven Points; and numerous other

years, died suddenly at 9 a.m. Sunday at his home, 904 South Wal-

Johnston, pastor of the North Park Baptist Church. Burial will be in

Little was born June 10, 1867 near Ashville, Tenn., a son of Mr. and
Mrs. John Little. He and Martha Vincent were married July 7, 1895 at
Tom Bean, where they resided until coming to Sherman. He was a member
of the Central Baptist Church.

Thomas M. Little of Kemp Succumbs
Thomas M. Little of Kemp, Rt. 2, died in Terrell Friday and funeral
rites were conducted Sunday with burial at King Cemetery.
Mr. Little was born in Tennessee on December 27, 1873.
He came to Texas and first located in Dallas, later moving to Aley.
He married Miss Effie Gardner on May 3, 1909. One of their five
children preceded him in death. 
Surviving are his widow; four sons, Ray Little of Styx, Roy Little
of California, Lee Little of Paris, and Beryl Little of the U. S.
Army; three brothers, Jim of Gainsville, Frank of Greenville, and
Cecil of Styx.

W. E. LITTLE PASSES IN KEMP
William Edgar Little, a son-in-law of Mrs. Hayden Bateman of Mabank,
died at his home in Kemp Saturday night. Funeral services were held
at 10:00 am Monday morning at the Methodist Church in Kemp with
burial in the city Cemetery. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Opal
Little and one daughter, Mrs Glen Cain, both of Kemp.

William Edgar Litle, Kemp resident, died at his home there Saturday
night. 
Funeral services will be held from the First Methodist Church in
Kemp at 10:00 A.M. Monday with the Rev. Charles Mehaffey and the Rev.
Norman Carter officiating. Interment will be in the Kemp Cemetery
under the direction of the Anderson Funeral Home. 
Mr. Little was born in Grand Prairie, Texas on June 25, 1894. He
later lived in the Styx community of Kaufman county and for a number
of years worked in the oil fields of Pampa and Borger in West Texas.
He moved to Dallas in 1925 and for the past eighteen years has been a
resident of Kemp where he was employed as Water Superintendent before
his retirement.
He was a member of the Christian Church and was a veteran of World
War I, serving overseas for several months. 
Surviving him are: his wife Mrs. Opal Louise Little of Kemp; one
daughter Mrs. Glen Cain; two grandchildren, Larry Cain and Cindy Cain
both of Kemp; one brother, Earl Little of Mesquite; one sister, Mrs.
Ruth Johnson of Richardson; a number of nieces and nephews; and other
relatives.

Barrel City, Mauldin Bateman of Fort Worth; Three sisters, Golden
Leslie of Fort Worth, Inez Baker of Oak Grove and Jewel Anders Of
Dallas. Pallbearers included Joe Baker, Neal Sloan, Jack Wilson, Jack
Roberts, Waymond Sloan And Dickie Reed. LaFrances is shown with a
different last name in the two obits. She was divorced from Glen
Cain. They had two children Cindy & Larry Cain. Larry was killed in
Cattle Truck. She Later married Calvin Sloan and he has since Also
died.

Mrs Willie Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, Texas died Sunday Feb. 1 in
Kaufman after a long illness. She was born August 25 1889 in the Aley
Community, Henderson County, Texas, the daughter of Pink and Mrs. Ann
Gardner Greenhaw, living in the  Aley Community all her life and
educated in the public schools of Aley. She married Thomas W.
Phillips September 8 1912.  Mr Phillips died Oct. 9 1972.
Mrs Phillips was a member of the Aley Methodist Church.
Survivng are two sons: Thurman D. Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, Texas
and Roy Little of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren; one brother, W.A. Carriffee of Chandler, Texas and
other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb.
3, from the Aley Methodist Church, with Rev. A.H. Logan officiating
with the internment in the King

married Viola Christine Hamilton on April 12, 1945. His parents, a
brother, Bernard Moseley, and sister, Helen Moseley prececed him in
death.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Viola Moseley of Scurry;
sons, Virgil Moseley of Ft. Worth and Louis Moseley Jr. of Kemp;

Luther Perry Robertson Jr., of Lancaster, Texas, was born Jan. 19,

Mr. Jones was born May 8, 1926 in Scurry and died Monday, April 12,

Margaret Jo Yudizky
Funeral services for Margaret Jo Watkins Yudizky of Mooresville,
N.C., were held Sept. 12, 2004, in the King Cemetery, with Rev. Jim

Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home of Kemp.
Yudizky was born on Sept. 21, 1945, in Dallas, the daughter of the
late Elton and Imogene Taylor Lynch, and passed away on Sept. 7,
2004, in Mooresville, N.C. She began a career with the Dallas County
Sheriff's Office. Once retiring, she managed a few convenience
stores. For the last few years, she enjoyed traveling the NASCAR
circuit with her husband, Tom, selling NASCAR souvenirs.
Margaret Jo was very special to all of us, and to anyone who knew
her, she was "Granny" or "Mom." She is survived by her loving husband
of 15 years, Tom Yudizky of Mooresville, N.C.; sons, Ricky D. Watkins
and wife Jenna, Kemp, David W. Watkins and wife, Holly, Seagoville,
and Terry D. Watkins and wife, Mellissa, Mooresville, N.C.; stepsons,

Gray owned and operated Judy's Saloon in Seven Points. He was a
member of HOG and loved to ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Thomas Edward Gray. 
He is survived by his wife, Judy Gray of Gun Barrel City; sons, Tony

Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Friday at Eubank Funeral Home
of Mabank. 

PHILLIPS (Year 1981)
Mrs Willie Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, Texas died Sunday Feb. 1 in
Kaufman after a long illness. She was born August 25 1889 in the Aley
Community, Henderson County, Texas, the daughter of Pink and Mrs. Ann
Gardner Greenhaw, living in the Aley Community all her life and
educated in the public schools of Aley. She married Thomas W.
Phillips September 8 1912. Mr Phillips died Oct. 9 1972. Mrs Phillips
was a member of the Aley Methodist Church.
Survivng are two sons: Thurman D. Phillips of Route 5, Kemp, Texas
and Roy Little of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren and 3 great
grandchildren; one brother, W.A. Carriffee of Chandler, Texas and
other relatives. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday Feb.
3, from the Aley Methodist Church, with Rev. A.H. Logan officiating
with the internment in the King
Cemetery. 
Pallbearers were Roy Gene Little, John Little, Kenney Boren, J.C.
Patterson, J.T. Greenhaw, and J.W. Gardner.
Anderson-Clayton Bros. Funeral Homes of Kemp was in charge of
arrangements.

ATHENS WEEKLY REVIEW
February 22, 1934
The past Wednesday R. L. (Lee) Gardner died and was buried at King's
cemetery Thursday. Mr. Gardner had been in bad health for several
years. He is survived by his wife and seven children. He also has one
brother and one sister living: William Gardner of Pauls Valley, Okla.
and Mrs. E. C. Carrifee of this place. All the relatives attended the
funeral except two sons and a daughter, Jack and Jim Gardner and Mrs.
Maggie Jones, of California. The Rev. L. M. Masters of Terrell,
conducted the funeral services. 

Ronald R. Waldie 
Services for Judge Ronald R. Waldie, 72, of Seven Points are
scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at the Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank
with the Rev. Victor Bohlman officiating. 
Burial will follow in King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank
Funeral Home in Mabank. 
Mr. Waldie died Sept. 23, 1999, in Tyler.  
He was born Sept. 25, 1926, in Pasadena, Calif., to E.B. and Rosie
Mae Casey Waldie Sr. Previously of Dallas, he had lived in Seven
Points for the past 20 years. He was a member of St. Peters Church in
Gun Barrel City and was involved in civic duties. Mr. Waldie owned a
law firm in Dallas for many years and was a municipal judge in Seven
Points. He presided as
municipal judge in Eustace and Caney City and was former city
attorney for Seven Points. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and
the U.S. Air Force and spoke several languages. 
He is survived by his wife, Miriam Waldie of Seven Points; sons,
Ronnie Waldie of Garland, Frankie Kovacic of Dallas and Jimmy Waldie
of Rockwall; daughters, Patricia Dawn McCullar of Dallas and Denise
Gail Webb of Fort Worth; brother, Charles Waldie of Gun Barrel City;
eight grandchildren; and many other family members. 
Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Sondra Arcelia Terry
Services for Sondra Arcelia Terry, 57, of Gun Barrel City are
scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday at Eubank Memorial Chapel with the
Rev. Marsha Hodges officiating.
Burial will follow at King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank
Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mrs. Terry died Sept. 11, 2002, in Tyler.
She was born Oct. 25, 1944, in Baltimore, Md. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Norman Lee Terry of Gun Barrel City;
daughter, Sondra Bullion of Gun Barrel City; son, Paul Craig of Gun
Barrel City; stepsons, Randy Terry and Richard Terry, both of Gun
Barrel City; and grandchildren, Michael Bullion, Austin Craig,
Brandon and Andy Terry, Brooke Bullion, Taylor Craig, Courtney Terry,
Christie Terry and Lauren
Terry; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Troy Columbus 'Junior' Durham 
Services for Troy Columbus "Junior" Durham, 68, of Kemp were held
Sunday at Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with Jim
Winfro officiating. 
Burial followed at Aley King Cemetery under the direction of
Tomlinson Funeral Home of Seven Points.
Mr. Durham died Aug. 29, 2002.
He was born Sept. 14, 1933, in Dallas.
Mr. Durham, also known as "Bull," was self-employed in retail sales
until his retirement in 2000. Previously of Dallas, he was a veteran
of the U.S. Army. He was a Christian. He was a member of the Model A
Gang and loved to restore Model A cars. He loved old western movies
and his garden. He also loved fishing and often took his children and
grandchildren with him. 
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Mary Evelyn Durham;
children, Troy Columbus Durham Jr., Carolyn Kay Campbell, Steven Roy
Durham and Debbie Mixon; siblings, Travis Durham, Leon Durham, Eugene
Durham, Diane Winkles, David Durham, James Durham and Kathy
Daughtery; grandchildren, Sasha Durham, Laura Ashley Durham, Brandi
Kay Tascano, Anthony Troy Mills Jr., Troy Columbus Durham III,
Kristien Mary Durham, Joshua Cole Durham, Ariel Marie Brena, Kelsey
Brooke Brena, Triston Dean Durham, Misty Dawn Mixon, Kristy Mixon and
Alicia Mixon; and four great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Anthony Troy Mills Jr., Johnny Watson, Michael
Campbell, Steven Roy Durham, Joshua Cole Durham and Troy Columbus

Van Carl Hanson 
Graveside services for Van Carl Hanson, 71, of Tool were held at
11:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at King Cemetery with the Rev. Eston
Williams under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home. 
Mr. Hanson died Feb. 3, 1999, in Tool at his residence. 
He was born July 19, 1927, in Roeville, Miss., to Jeff and Donie
Hanson. He married Mamie Doris Bell June 24, 1983, and they lived in
the Cedar Creek area for many years. 
Mr. Hanson is survived by his wife, Mamie Doris Hanson of Tool; son,
Tommy Hanson of Balch Springs; daughter,
Shirley Hanson of Balch Springs; stepdaughter, Sharon and Lee
Alewine of Garland; sister, Jimmie Lee Hanson
of Seagoville; brother, Troy Hanson of Florida; one grandchild. 

William A. 'Bill' Hoover
Services for William A. "Bill" Hoover, 76, of Kemp were held at 11
a.m. Wednesday at Eubank Memorial Chapel with Wayne England
officiating. 
Burial followed at King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar
Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Mr. Hoover died Jan. 19, 2003, in Dallas.
He was born July 13, 1926, in Wheatland.
Mr. Hoover was self-employed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He
was a member of the Shrine-Hella Temple and U.S. Army Tec 4. 
Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Hoover of Kemp; stepson, Tommy
Hagy of San Antonio; sons, Alex Hoover of Rockwall, Bill Hoover of
Fort Drum. N.Y., and Warren Hoover of Garland; stepdaughters,
Patricia Lynn Martin of Kerrville and Jennifer Troutman of Tool;
grandchildren, Warren, Chris and Leanna Vanlandingham; and
stepgrandchidlren, Michelle, Nicholas Troutman and John Martin.

William A. "Bill" Moore
Services for William A. "Bill" Moore, 77 of Tool, were at 10 a.m.
April 28 at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Seven Points with
Bro. Mike Manning officiating. Interment followed at the King
Cemetery in Seven Points.
Mr. Moore was born June 3, 1926 in Sulphur Springs to Frank and
Mamie Moore and passed away April 24 in Tyler. Bill joined the Army
and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and he was a member
of the First Baptist Church in Tool.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Moore of Tool; stepson, Butch
Canada of Kemp; brother and his wife, Carl B. and Faye Moore of
Richardson; sister-in-law, Lula Moore of Emory and numerous nieces
and nephews.

L.E. Ficklin
Services for the Rev. L.E. Ficklin, 81, Gun Barrel City, were held
Nov. 11, 2004, in the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with the Rev. Jim
Shafer officiating.  Interment was in the King Cemetery under the
direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. of Kemp.
Ficklin was born July 27, 1923, in Powell to the late Frank and
Blanch (Strange) Ficklin and died Nov. 8, 2004, in Gun Barrel City.
He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Aletha Mae Rogers, and a
stepson, Gene Vance.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II. He was a
minister for more than 40 years and started at least three churches
in the lake area. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of
Seven Points.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ficklin, Gun Barrel City; son,
L.E. Ficklin Jr., and his wife, Myra Sue, Jacksonville Beach, Fla.;
daughters, Linda Hogden, Dallas; Pam Causey and her husband, Kenneth,
Granberry; and Brenda Rees and her husband, Ken, Canton, Mo.; six
grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; stepson, Milton Vance and
his wife, Mozell, Mesquite; and stepdaughter, Shirley Freeman,
Lakeside Village. 

Levi Hamby
Funeral services for Levi Hamby, 17, of Kemp, were held at Anderson
Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp on Monday, Dec. 6, 2004, at
10 a.m. Interment followed in King Cemetery in Henderson County. 
He was a Junior at Kemp High School and an A-B Honor Roll student.
He played the tuba in the Kemp band and loved computers. Levi had a
big heart and loved life. He was a member of the Maranotha Fellowship
Church in Terrell. He was loved and will be missed by all who knew
him. An aunt, Tonya Kimberlin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include mother and father, Shannon and James Weems of
Kemp; sister, Chellsea Weems of Kemp; maternal grandparents, Terry
Lynn Hamby of Payne Springs and Billy Lee Hamby of Logan, Ohio;
paternal grandparents, Jimmy and Anita Weems of Terrell and Charlotte
and Wayne Hamilton of Seranton, Ark.; uncles, Billy Lee Hamby of
Sabina, Ohio, Norman Kimberlin of Wilmington, Ohio, and Gem Weems of
Terrell; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were John Farmer, Ollie LaCour, Brent Howder, Clayton
Goff, Coach Phil Hale and Joe McNair


Graveside services for Mildred A. Tucker, 76 of Seven
Points, were at 2 p.m. December 26 at King Cemetery near Seven
Points with Bro. Bobby Adams officiating under the direction of
Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Mrs. Tucker was born April 15, 1927 in Corsicana to Robert and Nell
Pohl and passed away Tuesday in Athens.
Survivors include her children, Carleen Sharp of Ferris; Roger
Tucker of Seven Points; Terry Tucker of Seven Points and Richard and
Kathy Tucker of Ferris; brother, Robert Pohl of Bryan; sister, Martha
Pohl of Caldwell; 11 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
