The city of Seven Points received its
name from the intersection of seven roads at a single
point. This is now located at the intersection of Highway
334 and 274, on the west side of Cedar Creek Lake. One of
the intersecting roads was the old Tyler to Porters Bluff
road. On the east side of the current intersection, Hwy 334
becomes 85. Another is Pritchett Lane and is now about a
half block back from the highway intersection. The Tyler to
Porters Bluff road has been closed at the intersection, but some
evidence still exists as to its location.
An interview with a teacher and long term resident of the area
four years ago had a story of his riding a horse through the area
with a friend hired by the state to track, log and report creek
levels in the area. He was qouted as saying "some day
there's going to be a city here, I'll bet they name it after
these roads."
