Census Records

Haskell County was created in 1858 but not organized until much later so, before 1880, the Haskell County area is included in the census records for Milam or Fannin counties. Census records from 1830 to 1940 may be viewed at the FamilySearch.org website with a free account. The 1950 census will be available on 1 Apr 2022 but it will take some time to transcribe and index it.
The 1880 census for Haskell County covers one precinct (one enumeration district) and contains 19 pages in ED 186, which contain 16 households (48 individuals). Pages 186-4 through 186-11 are actually in Knox County. This is the first census for Haskell County and the first to include relationships.

The 1920 Haskell County, Texas, Census contains 296 pages in Enumeration Districts 128 through 141 covering 6 precincts plus Rule and Haskell towns. It was enumerated in January and many families were missed, likely due to weather. It offers very little in the way of extra information except for the names of the roads on which the people lived.
