Shenia Kelsey and the Rev. Mike Brittain officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery of Harleton. Mr. Lahti died August 23, 2007, in Longview. Born September 11, 1931, in Marquette, Mich., he was a self-employed business owner. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Lahti; sons, Michael Lahti, Mitchell Lahti and Matthew Lahti; daughters, Melissa Bartuska and Melinda Nixon; and sister, Dorothy Beckman. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery in Harleton with the Revs. Shenia Kelsey and Mike Brittain officiating. He passed away Thursday, August 23, at a Longview hospital. Mr. Lahti was born September 11, 1931, in Marquette, Michigan, to Arne and Vienno Lahti, and had been a resident of Harleton since 1992. He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a self-employed business owner. Also, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 4002 in Longview and was a Lutheran. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Nita Charlene Lahti. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley Lahti of Harleton; children, Michael Lahti and wife, Pamela, of Leander, Texas, Mitchell Lahti and wife, Nila, of Diana, Texas, and Melissa Bartuska and husband, Gary, Matthew Lahti and wife, Joni, and Melinda Nixon and husband, Brad, all of Harleton; 12 grandchildren; four great- grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy Beckman and husband, Glen, of Marquette, Michigan.
