The Lufkin News—October 12, 1915—No. 85 Submitted by June Moffett Death of Mr. Clopton W.E. Clopton of Lensburg, La, died at the Ginicchio Hotel here at 4 o’clock Friday morning after a brief illness and the body was taken to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Clopton, at Hallsville, for burial in the Hallsville cemetery. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.L. Conner of the Hallsville Methodist. Mr. Clopton was taken sick with a congestive chill at his home in Lenzburg one week before his death, but had gotten better and being removed to the home of his parents. He grew worse after leaving home, and upon reaching Marshall was too ill to be taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. W.M. Green, East Rusk Street and was taken to the Ginocchio Hotel. Mr. Clopton was born in Wills Point, and would have been 30 years old next month. He was married eight years ago to Miss Clara Massingill of Diboll. He united with Christian Church at 11 years of age and was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Lufkin. He is survived by wife, two daughters, Cathryn and Minta, aged six and four years, father and mother, two brothers, W.A. Clopton of Groveton and M.L. Clopton, Jr. of Tupelo, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. W.M. Green of Marshall and Mrs. E.L. Byar of Terrell, all of whom were present at the funeral---Marshall News.
