There are still a couple of locally printed newspapers but most of these listed are now out of print. Please contribute to the validity of this listing. Texas Freeman, Houston Informer, and Houston Informer and Texas Freeman Beginning in 1893 the Texas Freeman was published by Charles N. Love; UH Clear Lake, Alfred R. Neumann Library, has on microfilm issues from 1919 to 1949 of a paper variously called "Houston Informer" and "Houston Informer and Texas Freeman". You can check the holdings at library.uh.edu. The Neumann Library has facilities for printing from microfilm or digitizing images.

In circa 1924, a merger of the Houston Post with the Houston Dispatch, becoming The Houston Post - Dispatch. The Houston Post (post-1930's) Established Feb 19, 1880-circa 1924 and circa 1930's--April 1995. In 1881 combined with the Houston Telegraph (formerly Telegraph and Texas Register). In circa 1924, a merger of the Houston Post with the Houston Dispatch, becoming The Houston Post - Dispatch. Fondren Library, Rice University, Holdings 1932-1995; Houston Public Library, Vol. 47, no. 303 (Feb. 1, 1932)- Ceased Apr. 18, 1995. The Houston Post closed permanently, with the final edition printed on April 18, 1995. Its assets and liabilities were acquired by Hearst Corporation, the publisher of the Post's rival, daily Houston Chronicle.

Houston Telegraph and Telegram Formerly Telegraph and Texas Register, removed to Houston after April 11, 1837, with first Houston issue printed May 2, 1837. Weekly publication until April 30, 1855, then tri-weekly. February 6, 1864, the Daily Telegraph replaced the Tri-Weekly Telegraph. The Telegraph suspended publication in the fall of 1873. Resumed publication Mar 1874 and eventually suspension of publication on February 11, 1877. Combined with Houston Post in 1881.
