Allen, Samuel Ezekiel 1848-1913 He was born in Harris County, Texas, on June 8, 1848, the son of Rebecca Jane (Thomas) and Samuel W. Allen. At the time of Allen's death in 1913 he owned 10,000 to 20,000 acres along Buffalo Bayou and was one of the largest taxpayers in Harris County.
Dupree, Anna Johnson 1891-1977 She was born on November 27, 1891, in Carthage, Texas, the oldest of Lee and Eliza Johnson's six children. She died on February 19, 1977 at the Eliza Johnson Home. She was one of the most notable philantropists in the Houston area.
Gillette, Henry Flavel 1816-1896 Teacher and Superintendent of Bayland Orphan's Home, which was established by Confederate veterans to care for the children of deceased soldiers.
Hogg, William Clifford 1875-1930 He was born at Quitman, Texas, on January 31, 1875 the son of Sallie (Stinson) and James Stephen Hogg (the first native governor of Texas. He died on September 12, 1930, while vacationing in Europe with his sister, Miss Ima Hogg, another past governor of Texas.
Jones, Jesse Holman 1874-1956 He was born in Robertson County, Tennessee, on April 5, 1874, to William Hasque and Laura Anna (Holman) Jones. He died on June 1, 1956 after a brief illness, and was buried in Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.
