Welcome
My name is Gina Heffernan and I was born in Houston and lived along I-10 East and in Pasadena until I was 14 when my family moved slightly south to Galveston County. I've since moved away north to the piney woods so I don't know the area as well as I once did but I may be able to help you find something there. Among my interests in Harris County are the Germanic families of Spring where my stepfather's Holzworth-Haude-Mittelstedt-Klein family was prominent. My mom was also of Swiss/German heritage so I really enjoyed putting these families on paper. This website is an attempt to help family historians uncover their families' unique histories by publishing historical family items at no cost to the user. Along that vein, we would love to see you join us by contributing to the database. We are just as appreciative of single items as for transcriptions of large indices. We provide a place to publish the surnames you're researching locally along with more in-depth descriptions (queries) for families that are difficult to trace. Click the Submit button above for a better description of what we need. This website is and will always be free of charge.
I thank my predecessors, especially Douglas Anderson, Rosanna Urban Parra, Linwood Peterson, Ben Gantt, and the late Doug Benton (founder), past hosts and coordinators, for all of their contributions and hard work for the Harris County web site and for leaving such a large database for me to tend and I hope you find it useful enough to add your photos and other family mementos.
