Funeral services for Dan Moody Smith, 79, of Longview, 
will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007, at Welch 
Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tiny Rains officiating. 
Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smith 
died Thursday at his residence. He was born April 24, 
1927, in Edom, Texas, to Dewey and Ruth Irene Smith. He 
had been a resident of Longview since 1950, was a member 
of the VFW and a millwright. Mr Smith was preceded in 
death by sons, Robert Lewis Smith and Travis Gene Smith. 
Mr. Smith is survived by son, Dan Carlos of Winnsboro; 
daughter, Vickie Wilson and husband, Robert, of New 
Boston; daughter, Georgia Smith of Palm Desert, Calif; 
son, Dan Michael Smith and wife, Dianne,of Longview; 
grandchildren Austin Smith, David Hill, Shawn Hill, 
Jennifer Bright, Robbie White, Susan Smith, Tiffany 
Smith, Travis A. Smith, Melaine Avis, Michael B. Smith, 
Destiny Duke and Clayton Duke; nine great-grandchildren; 
and lifelong friend, Weldon Davis. The family will 
receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral
