Starkey, Doyle Lee 


Services for Doyle Lee Starkey, 72, of Longview, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, 
January 31, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home with Troy Williams and the Rev. 
Stephen Stosell officiating. Burial will follow in Peatown Cemetery with 
military honors. Mr. Starkey died Saturday in a local hospital. Mr. 
Starkey was born March 26, 1933, to Thomas and Lula Potts Starkey in 
Menlo, Georgia. He was a U.S. Army veteran in the Korean War and a member 
of First Church of God. Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by his parents, 
three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Starkey is survived by his wife, 
Claudette Cumbie Starkey of Longview; two daughters and sons-in-law, 
Kathleen and Doug Coon of Longview, and Becky and Joe Lansdale of Gilmer; 
five granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, Andy Rogers, Sara Coon, Martha 
Coon, Jennifer Lansdale and Aleisha Lansdale; and two grandsons, Stephen 
and Joshua Crutchfield. He is also survived by his brother, Roy J. Starkey, 
and a sister, Lucille Everette, both of Georgia. The family will receive 
friends from 6-8 p.m. today, January 30, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home. An
