Services for Richard W. "Dick" Spottswood, 86, of Fairview, formerly 
of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006, at Welch 
Funeral Home Chapel at 4619 Judson Road. Mr. Spottswood died November 
20, 2006. Born November 27, 1919, in Longview, he was a U.S. Army 
veteran, having served during World War II, retired LeTourneau 
University professor, and longtime member of Mobberly Baptist Church. 
Survivors include his wife, Jane Spottswood; sons, Rick Spottswood and 
Hal Spottswood; daughter, Ronda Deso; and sister, Evelyn Richmond. 
Visitation will be 5:30-8 p.m. Friday, November 24, 2006, at the funeral

Spottswood, Richard W. "Dick"  
 	
Funeral services for Richard W. "Dick" Spottswood, 86, of Fairview, 
Texas, formerly of Longview, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 
2006, at the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, 4619 Judson Road. Mr. 
Spottswood passed away on Monday, November 20, 2006. Mr. Spottswood 
was born November 27, 1919, in Longview, to Richard and Ronda 
Spottswood. Mr. Spottswood was a member of Mobberly Baptist Church 
for more than 50 years, also serving as an usher and Sunday school 
teacher. He graduated from Longview High School and Southern Methodist 
University receiving his B.A. in electrical engineering. Mr. 
Spottswood was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at R.G. 
LeTourneau, where he helped in the building of Lake Cherokee. Mr. 
Spottswood then joined LeTourneau University as a professor for 39 
years, until his retirement in 1985. In addition, he helped his family 
and friends with radio and television repair for more than 50 years. 
He collected railroad memorabilia and model trains. Left to cherish 
his memory are his wife, Jane Spottswood of Fairview, Texas, who he 
married September 12, 1941, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana; sons and 
daughters-in-law, Rick and Diana Spottswood of Gretna, Louisiana, and 
Hal and Karen Spottswood of Granbury, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, 
Ronda and Matt Deso of Lucas, Texas; sister, Evelyn Richmond of 
Longview; special niece and nephew-in-law, Laura and Mike Paulsen of 
Allen, Texas; grandchildren and spouses, Richie Spottswood, Jason and 
Jennifer Spottswood, Schuyler Spottswood, Stephanie and Jay Carpenter, 
Melissa and James Miller, Chase Deso, and Kimberly Deso; and 
great-granddaughters, Ava Spottswood, Kierstin Spottswood, Savannah 
Carpenter, Charlotte Carpenter, Mackenzie Grace Miller and Jackson 
Hight. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 
LeTourneau University, c/o Electrical Engineering Department, P.O. 
Box 7333, Longview, TX 75607. Memorial gifts will be recognized in 
the Now magazine, president's edition. The family will receive friends 
from 5:30-8 p.m. today, November 24, 2006, at the funeral home. An
