Seidel, Harry H. KILGORE -- Services for Harry H. Seidel, 83, of Kilgore, Texas, will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2006, at St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Kilgore, Texas, with the Rev. Ernie Turney officiating. Burial will follow later in Arlington National Cemetery. Mr. Seidel was born October 19, 1922, in Sandoval, Illinois, where he graduated from Sandoval High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II, where he fought at Omaha Beach, the Liberation of Paris, the Hurtgen Forest and was taken as a prisoner of war, December 18, 1944, in Hosingen, Luxembourg, during the Battle of the Bulge. After the war Mr. Seidel returned to Robinson, Illinois, where he worked for the Getty Oil Co. While in Robinson, he was a Past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, the Moose Lodge and the American Legion. He was transferred to Kilgore, Texas, in 1972 and retired there in 1980. Mr. Seidel was a member of the St. Luke's United Methodist Church, the Meadowbrook Country Club, the Ex-POW and the DAV of East Texas. He is survived by his wife, Maxine McCarty Seidel of Kilgore, Texas; two sons, Dr. Edward Allen Seidel of Washington, D.C. and William McCarty Seidel of Grapevine; two grandchildren, Marc Edward Seidel of Grapevine, Texas, and Guinevieve Imperial of Washington, D.C.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anna C. and Edward A. Seidel; and a brother, E. Charles Seidel. The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore between 6:30-8 p.m. this evening.
