Pinkerton, Carlton Lee 

Carlton Lee Pinkerton left this world Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Good Shepherd 
Hospital, surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. His loved 
ones and community are comforted in their loss by many memories of him as a 
wonderful father, a loving husband, and a man who always found a way to make the 
best of any situation with a kind deed and gentle humor. Carlton was born March 
13, 1925, in Longbranch, Rusk County. He was a student of the Patrick School 
District and graduated from Henderson High School in 1942. Carlton was a veteran 
of the U.S. Navy, having served at the Naval Air Training Center in Corpus 
Christi. After returning home to Henderson, his first job was at Reedy's 
Department Store. Many who know Carlton as "Pinky" remember him as manager of the 
Goodyear Tire Store in Longview since 1958. His career with Goodyear began in 
1952 in Henderson and spanned 32 years, with his retirement in 1985. Carlton 
married Joan Strong of Mount Enterprise on March 4, 1951, and recently celebrated 
55 years of loving marriage. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and 
Oma Lee Pinkerton; his brother, Billy Ray Pinkerton; and by his infant daughter, 
Cynthia Faye Pinkerton. Carlton is survived by his wife, Joan Strong Pinkerton of 
Longview. His children and grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Pops" include: 
son, Gary Pinkerton of Lumberton, and his sons, Kevin and Tony; son, Danny 
Pinkerton of Houston, his wife, Allison, and children, Ryan, Brad, and Sarah; and 
daughter, Patti Coleman of Longview, her husband, Dirk, and children Clay, Kate, 
and Carson. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2006, at 
Winterfield United Methodist Church of Longview, with the Reverend Larry Day and 
the Reverend Rita Sims officiating. Interment will follow in Rosewood Park Cemetery, 
under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Special thanks from the 
family to his caregivers, Linda Doggett and Charlotte Lutrell, the staff of 
Whispering Pines, City of Longview EMS, Good Shepherd Hospital, and Heart'sWay 
Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to Winterfield United Methodist Church or 
Heart'sWay Hospice of Northeast Texas. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday 
evening, June 9, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home on Judson Road in Longview. A memorial
