Newland, Minnie Purcell "Fuzzy" Funeral services for Minnie Purcell "Fuzzy" Newland will be held at 10 a.m. today, March 14, 2007, at the chapel of Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview. Minnie and her twin sister, Winnie were born September 15, 1934, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to George E. and Blondel Purcell. Minnie passed away Sunday, March 11, 2007, after a lengthy illness. She was active in the Longview Women's Bowling Association for 35 years, until her retirement in 1997, due to health problems. She was inducted into the LWBA Hall of Fame as a dedicated director and member. She received an award for Dedication of Service 1982-83 and LWBA Member Emeritus 1990-96. She retired from the Gregg County Auto Registrations office in 1997. She was a faithful member to her Lord and church, Hope Community Church at Northside, formerly Northside Baptist Church of Longview. Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, William Harold Newland, in February 2006; and by her mother, father and her twin sister. S he is survived by her son and his wife, Mike and Jane Newland of Gladewater; two grandsons, Jeff and his wife, Kristi of Houston, and Greg and his wife, Jenelle of Gladewater; one granddaughter, Amanda Newland of Gladewater; and three great-grandchildren, Lauren Homer, Jacob Newland and Aidan Newland. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Haynes of Liberty City, Imogene and William A. Ames of Longview, W.A. Watson of Linden ,and James E. Jones of Dallas; and nieces and nephews, Tommy, Teddy and Vicki Haynes, David and Cristi Ames, Ronald Estep Jr., Neil Estep, Rhonda Pahlman, Regina Winland, Blondel Zimmerman, Brenda Jansen, Reagan Watson, and Trica and Chris Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hope Community Church at Northside, 1105 Lake Dr., Longview, TX 75601; or LifeCare Health Services, 1809 Gilmer Rd., Longview, TX 75604.
