Nesbitt, James Harold "Lightning"

 James Harold "Lightning" Nesbitt died at 8:30 a.m. Friday morning with his family 
by his side. He was born in Troup, Texas on August 31, 1927, to Clara and Dallas 
Nesbitt. At the age of 5, the family moved to Big Sandy, Texas, where he graduated 
in 1944. He then joined the U.S. Navy and operated an LCM. After World War II, he 
went to work in the oil fields. He worked from East Texas to West Texas, whereever 
the jobs were. He was so fast running the cables on the drilling rigs, that he was 
dubbed "Lightning" by his co-workers. He started out as a roustabout in the oil 
fields. He retired from Ashland-Scurlock as supervisor of the Northeast Texas-Louisiana 
district in September 1991. He was a true specialist in the oil business. He was a 
member of St. Michaels and All Angels Episcopal Church, by choice, since 1970. He is 
survived by his wife of 38 years, Regina Nesbitt of Longview; daughter and son-in-law, 
Janie and Thomas Witt of Pierce City, Mo.; daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Tom 
Fielding of Washborn, Mo., son, Jim Nesbitt of Cassville, Mo.; son and daughter-in-law, 
Scott and Carol Nesbitt of Longview, Texas; three stepsons, Kenneth Jaynes of Tyler, 
Texas, Steve Jaynes of Longview, Texas, and Frank Jaynes of Ore City, Texas; brothers, 
Gerald Nesbitt and wife, Juanita, of Little Rock, Ark., and Dickie Nesbitt of Rowlett, 
Texas; sister and brother-in-law, Nora Beth and Milton Musick of Mesquite, Texas; 
sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Chuck Wainscott of Mesquite, Texas; sister, 
Helen Redick of Port Arthur, Texas; brothers-in-law, Jack and Nancy Staples of Fort 
Worth, Texas, J.C. Staples and Yvonne Staples of Lake Charles, La., Ray Staples of 
Marshall, Texas, and Gene Staples of Marshall, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 29 
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Billie Jo Nesbitt; 
three sisters-in-law; four brothers-in-law; and two nephews. Visitation will be at 
Lakeview Funeral Home today, May 7, 2006, from 3 to 5 p.m. Services will be held at 
Lakeview Funeral Home Monday, May 8, 2006, at 2 p.m. Pallbearers will be Mike Williams, 
Smiley Owens, Robert Berry, Roy Fergurson, Skippy Seale and John Maxfield. Memorials may 
be made to Heart'sWay Hospice or to a charity of your choice. For those unable to attend,
