Miller, Mamie Draper Graveside services for Mamie Draper Miller, 99, of Longview, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2007, at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Scott Schulik, minister to senior adults at Mobberly Baptist Church officiating. Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, April 17, 2007, at Good Shepherd Medical Center. She was born November 25, 1907, in Atlanta, to Margaret Ann Heldt Draper and Elijah Samuel Draper. She had lived in Longview since 1929, except for 10 years when she and her husband lived in Houston at which time, during World War II, she helped build ships in the Houston shipyard. She was a charter member of Mobberly Baptist Church and taught the "little children" at the South Highland Mission. For many years, she was active in the Rebekah's Lodge. On August 28, 1923, she married Clarence Dewey Miller in Texarkana, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on September 18, 1972. Also preceding her in death were her parents; a granddaughter, Joyce Ann Sweat; three brothers; and five sisters. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Pauline Nelms of Longview; grandson, Mark Dewey Nelms of Red Oak; great-grandsons, Robert Ray Leone of South Carolina, Dewey Mark Nelms of Henderson, William Nelms of Henderson and Michael Dewayne Nelms of North Fork; great- granddaughters, Mary Ann Leone of Queen City, Lou Ann Harper of Florida, Pauline Ruhn of Georgia and Kimberly Nelms of Red Oak; 11 great-great-grandchildren; five great-great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
