Miller, Paul W. "Red" Paul W. "Red" Miller passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2007, at a local nursing home. He had been afflicted with Alzheimer's for several years. The family moved to Lafayette, Ind., when Paul was very young. He graduated from Purdue University as an aeronautical engineer in 1947. He joined the U.S. Navy Air Corps in 1942, and became a fighter pilot, a lifetime ambition. He and his son built and flew hang gliders in later years. He married Frances McCormick on June 1, 1945, and they moved to Nevada in 1947, to operate a small airport. They moved to southern California after a fire destroyed the airport, and he started his career working in the aircraft and aerospace field, retiring from Boeing Aircraft in 1986. He is survived by his wife of Longview; his sister, Jacqueline J. Watson of Palos Verdes Estate, Calif.; their children, Jeff L. Miller and wife, Sue, of Escalon, Calif., and Susie Waite and husband, David, of Longview; 10 grandchildren, Amy L. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, handball, motorcycle riding and all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren he was able to know at all. His illness took many years from them that he would have enjoyed so much. There will be no visitation or service. Cremation is being handled by Welch Funeral Home, 4619 Judson Road.
