Meyer, James O. "Jim" 

Memorial services for James O. "Jim" Meyer, 74, of Longview, will be held 
at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Rader 
Funeral Home of Longview. Jim passed away Tuesday morning, September 5, 
2006, at his residence following a two-year battle with cancer. Jim was 
born September 16, 1931, in Longview, to Otto H. and Mabel Malone Meyer, 
and he had been a lifetime resident here. Jim served tours in both the 
U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard. During his time in the U.S. Coast 
Guard, he was stationed at Cape Spencer, Alaska, where he manned the 
lighthouse. Those years instilled in Jim a passion for lighthouses and 
the U.S. Coast Guard which he held the rest of his life. For a number of 
years following his time in the U.S. military, Jim worked as a parts 
manager for a local auto dealer. Jim is survived by his sister and 
brother-in-law, Dorothy and Hansel Kincaid of Midland; cousin, Glen 
Cleaver of Fort Worth; and a host of extended family and friends. Those
