Eckert, Mable Porter

Private graveside services for Mable Porter Eckert, 85, of Longview, will 
be held at a later date in Commerce. Mrs. Eckert died Sunday morning, June 
24, 2007, at her residence.

She was born May 21, 1922, in McCalla, Alabama, to Lester Hugh and Leila 
Cade Porter. She had been a resident of Longview since 1947 and was a former 
member of the nursing staff at Good Shepherd Medical Center. She was also a 
member of the First Christian Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Skip Cole of 
Longview; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Sherry Eckert of Longview; son, 
Dougals V. Eckert of Dallas; grandchildren, Nick and wife, Carla, Jason and 
wife, Elaine, Rick, Kim, Ron and James; and great-grandchildren, Haydon and 
Kylie.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and chaplains at 
Texas Home Health Hospice; to her caregiver, Irene Pendergrass; to her 
neighbors, Bill and Dorothy; to her friends; and to her very special friend, 
Jimi.
