Covington, Edna Blanche E. Blanche Covington, of Port Arthur, left her earthly home on the morning of January 28, 2007, to join her late husband, H. Dave Covington, in her new heavenly home. A celebration of her life will be 3 p.m. today, January 30, 2007, at Greggton First Baptist Church, with Brother Frank Hodges of Fellowship Baptist Church and Brother Bobby E. Moore of Greggton First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery. She was born August 5, 1920, in Mansfield, Louisiana, to Grady and Evie Lee McMichael, who preceded her in death. She married Dave Covington in Magnolia, Arkansas, and after World War II, moved to Longview, where they raised their family and she worked by his side at Dave's Body Shop that later became Covington Body & Frame Shop. Blanche loved teaching Bible and was loved by her ladies Sunday school class and served others at Valley View Baptist and Central Baptist churches. She was a member at Greggton First Baptist until she moved in 2001 to Port Arthur to be near her son and daughter and joined Fellowship Baptist Church in Nederland. She loved to crochet and left all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a precious piece of her handiwork. Celebrating her life and homegoing are her daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Preston Parks of Nederland; son and daughter-in-law, Harvey and Gail of Port Arthur; son and daughter-in-law, Homer and B.J. of Longview; grandchildren, Paul, Bryce, Kyle, Shannnon, Angela, Cassandra, Marcus, Jason, and Shawn; stepgrandson, Christopher Parks; 13 great-grandchildren; two precious sisters, Maxine Cain of Gunntersville, Alabama, and Pat Craig of Longview; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice. The family will receive friends from 1:30-3 p.m., prior to services, at the church.
