Services to celebrate the life of Sally Childs will be 
Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church 
beginning with a rosary at 11:30 a.m., with Mass of 
Christian Burial beginning at noon, with Father Gavin 
Vaverek officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn 
Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens, Texas, at 3:30 p.m. 
Services are under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of 
Longview. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. 
Monday, February 18, 2007, at the funeral home. Friday, 
February 16, the lights in Heaven began to burn a little 
brighter. Our precious mother, grandmother, sister, aunt 
and friend, Sally Cecila Galsce Childs, was called home to 
be with Jesus Christ. She was reunited with her mother, 
Margaret Lyden Galsce, and her father, William Galsce. 
Heaven will be forever changed, and the earth will never 
be the same. Sally made the trip to Heaven in the arms of 
her beloved son after her heart could simply beat no longer. 
She was 66. Sally was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 23, 
1940. She spent her early years growing up in Harper Woods 
with her sisters and her friends. She was the consummate 
tomboy, the son her father never had. She loved to fish and 
hunt. She was mischievous and adventurous. Her oldest sister 
introduced Sally to her new boyfriend, an Air Force boy. Her 
sister, Pat, soon married this Air Force boy, Bennie. Bennie 
just so happened to have a little brother Aubrey. When 
Aubrey and Sally met, it was the beginning of a lifelong 
relationship. Sally and Aubrey married in 1961. They had five 
precious works of art: Debbie, Dave, Donny, Dawn and Diana. 
Sally was a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother. She taught 
the importance of family and cherished every moment she had 
with her children. Sally was the epitome of the self-
sacrificing servant leader. Teaching her children by example 
to love, to be generous and to appreciate every circumstance 
and situation as a precious gift. As her children grew, Sally 
left the home and entered the working world. She went to work 
at Internal Medicine Association and worked as a receptionist, 
medical records specialist, "resident therapist," devoted 
friend and office clown! She worked at IMA for more than 27 
years. Sally is survived by her children, Deborah Ann 
Killingsworth and her husband, Oliver; David William Childs and 
his wife, Cindy; Donald James Childs; Dawn Marie Allen and her 
husband, Luke; and Diana Lynn Johnson and her husband, Charles. 
She has three grandchildren, Stephen Kyle Killingsworth, Ashley 
Nicole Killingsworth and Ryan Scott Killingsworth; and two 
sisters, Pat Childs and Sandy Genovich. Sally is also survived 
by a host of beloved friends Marsha Patterson, Terry and Kent 
Williams and Susan Thomas, just to name a few. Sally's friends 
numbered and shone in her life like stars in the night sky. 
Pallbearers will be Luke Allen, Kent Williams, Charles Johnson, 
Charlie Johnson, Oliver Killingsworth, Ryan Killingsworth and 
Stephen Killingsworth. A memorial guestbook may be signed at
