Bonner, Weldon Regan Weldon Regan Bonner was born October 8, 1941, in Longview, Texas. He graduated from Longview High School and attended Kilgore College and Texas A&M University. He died January 23, 2007, in Rowlett, Texas. He was preceded in death by father, Weldon Davis Bonner; mother, Bernice "Peggy" Huffman Bonner; much loved grandparents, aunts, uncles, and father-in-law, Ruben Apelo, M.D. Mr. Bonner is survived by his loving wife, Bella; son, Buddy Bonner and wife, Amber; daughter, Sandi Kay Bonner Araiza and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Caroline Araiza, Emily Araiza, Avery Jane Bonner, and Natalie Bonner; and sister, Jan Doerr and husband, Tommy; sisters-in-law, Alma Apelo Manahan and Maline Apelo Flores; brother-in-law, Ruben Apelo Jr., and mother-in-law, Irma Apelo, M.D. Special friends include Ronny Manahan, Profiro "Pops" Flores, Luke Clayton, Chester Smith, Jack Ogilvie, all doctors at UTSWMC past and present, especially Kevin Christenson, Joseph Leach, Jay Boulas , W. Steves Ring, John S. Webb, Michael Wait, as well as all the personnel he worked with over the years at UTSWMC Mr. Bonner worked in Iran and Saudia Arabia for Bell Helicopter and later for UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas until his retirement. He loved duck hunting and fishing, especially fishing for catfish. He operated the Catfish Only Guide Service on Lake Ray Hubbard. Because of his passion for fishing, he was known affectionately as "Mr. Catfish," or "The Legend" to his friends and customers. Also, he enjoyed the annual class reunion and golf tournament with classmates in the LHS class of 1959. His loyalty and his wonderful sense of humor endeared him to many lifetime friends.
