1846 with his brother Samuel D. Magrill. He acquired quite a bit of
land and deeded a portion of it to the Negroes of Upshur County (now
known as Magrill Plaza). He also deeded property for the erection of
a Methodist Church in the present city of Longview. John was appointed
Confederate Postmaster of Sources: U.S. Federal Census records, Confederate Pension Applications, miscellaneous records documented on the Gregg County GenWeb Site . |
