History Of The Red Oak Baptist Church Thanks to Charles R. Newhouse, Deacon, Musician, Director of NBC and Host of The Newhouse Gospel Hour Ministry, Radio KFRO 1370 since 1973 .
Sixteen pastors have served over the years: The Rev. Rube Wright Rev. Bartlett The Rev. H. Y. Jones The Rev. M. J. Walker The Rev. C. M. Butler The Rev. H. C, Alexander The Rev. W. M. Hardeman The Rev. Leonard Harris The Rev. J. H. Harris The Rev. S. T. Alexander During the administration of the eleventh pastor, The Rev. J. J. Finley, the church was destroyed by fire. (March 7, 1929). The Rev. F.A. Scott The Rev. Jones, Son of Rev. H. Y. Jones In 1932, The Rev. L. R. Taylor was elected pastor and served for 9 years. The site where the church now stands was purchased from the estate of the Late Anna Rollins Jacobs and C.B. Jacobs. The church was destroyed by a storm shortly after its completion. In 1944, The late Rev. J. E. Johnson elected pastor and served for a number of year In 1967, The Rev. B. B. Brown was elected pastor and served in the 1980's. The current pastor, the Rev. H. C. Rockmore Sr. has served for the past sixteen years. The present church building was completed in December, 1985. During the Summer of 2003, the church dedicated a $1.7 million dollar addition of Family Life Center, Educational Facility. We have an active membership of 650 active members, full time secretaries, a day care center, Agape Learning Academy for pre-school students licensed for 125 students, The Red Oak Baptist Church, Inc. is located at 2717 South MLK Blvd. Phone: 903-753-7390 or 903: 757-6440 Email: redoak@baptch@sbcglobal.net. We have some 20 active ministries in the church to meet the needs of our members and community members. Daily exercise programs for seniors, youth. Recreational ministry, Plan Giving Ministry, Big Brothers and Sisters in Christ Ministry, Summer Academic Camps and Feeding Programs are the latest additions to the many active ministries of our church.
