Notes:
According to lookups done by Rebecca White her church/cemetery information, there is a marker for an F. A. Howard but it has no dates or information on it. There are also 3 infant graves on the same row but no markers. Possibly some of his children?? Perhaps this is Finis A. Howard??

Received Finis Howard’s marriage from John Fraiser (JohFrais at aol.com) Malinda Sanders married first a William Brewer about 1836 possibly in Mississippi. After William’s death she married Warnal J. Howard 1844 in Alabama. I don’t have proof of the date of her marriage to any of the three husbands. Vera Underwood Flowers gave me the marriage date for her marriage to Warnal and also gave me the date for her marriage to the Matthew Harrell. She called him Matis Harrell but found find him listed on the Clay Co MS Census records as Matthew Harrell. According to Rebecca White administrater of Clay Co MS web site, her church/cemetery records show Mrs. M. Harrell and Matthew Harrell buried between a Betty Howard and Henry Howard in unmarked graves in the Cairo Cemetery, Clay County Mississippi.

Warnal Jackson Howard is no doubt buried in an unmarked grave. If as the 1860 Fayette Co AL Census states the last child of Malinda and Warnal Howard was born in MS, then they would have been living in MS before 1854. Malinda must have decided to move back to Alabama as she and their children are on the Fayette Co AL Census for 1860.
Malinda Sanders Brewer Howard Harrell is found on the 1870 Chickasaw Co MS census with husband, Matthew Harrell, her daughter, Hulda Ann Howard, a child, Ada Harrell?
Age 8 and Malinda’s nephew, Moses Taylor Summers. Matthew is listed as Marion on this census and possibly that was his middle name. The 1880 Clay Co MS census gives his name as Matthew age 76 and Malinda as age 62. I’m not sure if Ada was a child of Malinda and Matthew or a grandchild of Matthew from his first marriage.

Malinda’s twin sister, Matilda is also in 1880 Clay Co MS Census married to William Mixon. Malinda and Matilda Sanders had a sister much younger named Martha
Sanders that married a John Burton Summers. Robert Elezy Summers one of the four sons of Martha Sanders and John Burton Summers married Hulda Ann Howard. They are first cousins according to copies of Bible records from the Summers family that
I have. Matthew Harrell was a Justice of the Peace according to the 1880 Clay Co MS Census. He performed the marriage of L. B. Howard and Bethelda Jane Ellis in 1867, Chickasaw Co. Mississippi.

The daughter of Malinda Sanders Brewer Howard married about 1854 or 1855 probably in Fayette Co. Alabama. Matilda Brewer Beasley and husband John Robert Beasley had
a daughter born about 1856 and son born in 1860. There were other children born and the family lived in the portion of Fayette Co Alabama that became Lamar after 1870. They moved sometime after the census was taken in June 1900 from
Lamar County to VanZandt County Texas. They were living in VanZandt County when John Robert Beasley died in 1905. Matilda Beasley lived with her son, Jesse, until her death in 1910 in VanZandt Co. Both Matilda Brewer Beasley and husband John Robert Beasley are buried in the Edom Cemetery, VanZandt Co TX.

Malinda and Matilda Sanders were most likely born in Alabama and possibly in a county other than Fayette Co.

Martha Sanders appears to have been born in Alabama as well. She and John B. Summers married in 1850 Pontotoc Co MS. She and her husband are on the Pontotoc MS census 1850 and on the Choctaw Co MS census for 1860 with their four sons, James, Robert, Daniel and Moses Taylor. After that I find no record of this couple though I’ve been told Martha lived until about 1872. Need more research for this couple as their children are scattered on the 1870 Chickasaw Co MS census living with various families.
