Faulkner Plantation

Contributed by Pat Hartman

Faulkner Plantation: Home of Alsdorf Faulkner, general passenger agent for the T&NO Railroad. The town of Alsdorf, now non existant, was named for him. The town could not be named Faulkner as there was already a town in Texas by that name. Alsdorf was situated in Ellis County, northeast of Ennis. There the Alsdorf and Nellie (Moore) Faulkner made their country home on a "plantation," which was a huge farm and large farmhouse. Among their employ was James Sweeney as foreman. After the death of Mr. and Mrs. Faulkner, Nellie Faulkner's cousin Lillian Proctor Hines lived in the home. She eventually married James Sweeney and made Alsdorf her permanent home.
