Wounded December 29th, 1941.
Returned to duty February 1942.
Taken Prisoner May 7th, 1942 on Corregidor.
Killed on Japanese Prison Ship, December 15, 1944.
Joel Edward Loftin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Loftin.

Two Cooper Privates Now Listed as Dead

COOPER, Texas. Aug. 7 — * * *
According to a telegram received from the War Department Pvt. Joel E. Loftin, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Loftin who was taken prisoner by the Japs in the Phillipines, was among those who lost their lives on Dec. 13 when a ship on which they were being evacuated presumably to Japan was sunk by an American submarine.
